Not being critical, but 1K rpm is really pretty low to driving around at. I'm wondering if it's partially stalling?

No it happens above 1k rpm, and after the single buck/jump it moves along fine after. It is only a single buck. It happens above the point where the engine would want to stall (I never take 2nd gear below 9 mph, i think that is right around 1k rpm? because the engine gets stuttery around there).

I typically cruise 2k+ rpm, usually around 2.5k. So I only experience this issue when coming to a stop or slowing down into that range.

I've experienced what you're talking about and I think its just a function of the super computerized engine. At low RPM it feels like the engine braking just stops, so it feels like it's lunging because the truck all of a sudden isn't being slowed by anything. Its annoying but you get used to it.

Ok thank you, that is exactly what I'm talking about! Good to know it is happening to others as well.

I get a bucking in the driveline every so often. Probably just motor mount bushings already getting trashed, I need to swap in the solid mounts sitting on my desk one of these days. In 5th or 6th sometimes if I let off the throttle quickly I'll feel the driveline buck from the power loss and then if I give it throttle again I'll feel it buck again. So something has a hair of slack in it somewhere that's causing that. Could just be axle wrap, but usually don't feel it like that at highway speeds

Yes I get the same as well, the bucking when applying the throttle or coming off of it quickly (happens in multiple gears). Have to be real sensitive on the throttle to avoid it.

Happens to me as well. Quick acceleration will cause it to jerk or seem like it dips in power and then kick in. I don't really notice it when the truck is warmed up though. Ususally just for a few minutes after I start it.

    Did my part....

Initial quality survey came in the mail. Aside from the typical questions about broken stuff at delivery, there was a question on what the primary reason was for my purchase decisions. I said "Availability of manual transmission."

Dinged them for dash rattle, rear end howl and steering wheel vibration @ 60-65mph.

The TRDs come with cruise. SR doesn't but I'm pretty sure Corey/sloemoe has instructions on adding cruise to the SR 5MT.

I added to mine. It is just a little bit more involved than adding to an auto, but still pretty easy. The only additional step is adding an upper clutch switch. If you do this just get that switch through your dealer. It's a tight spot and being plug and play helps a lot.

Cruise comes with the SR Convenience Package, but not with the Utility Package.

Man, I am really starting to love my truck. Haven't even gotten out of town yet. Hopefully will get up to the snow this weekend. It's such a blast to drive. And so far - knock on wood - zero issues with vibration, rattles, howls, etc.

3rd gen is king. It's just fucking fun. Comfortable inside too. Coming from a 1995 standard Taco - holy moly. I feel really bad for folks who aren't happy with theirs. I'm glad I got the manual. I know I can trust it. The risk of being unhappy with the Auto was too high.

Only minor thing is that the standard exhaust seems kind of strained or pinched. I might look at doing TRD exhaust/intake at some point. Seems like the 3.5L wants a little more room to breathe.

I think around 200! Mostly just been cruising around town. Making up excuses to run errands, even.

Just want to let you guys know there is a new TSB out (as in last couple of days) specifically for whining/howling in 5th and 6th gear in the manual transmissions. It involves replacing a heat insulator and 4 bolts. So check to see if you notice any whining.
