OEM Audio + Feedback (Updated 10/18/2017) Dual Subwoofer Is Here!

And this is with the OEM AUDIO PLUS system? If so, from what I hear your standards must be high? I guess I should ask this first? Are you aware this thread is about the after market system designed by OEM AUDIO? it's an outside company.

 

I talked with Daniel and his tech today for quite a while. They answered all my questions and then some. I have built high dollar, high end sound systems and know a little about them but when they were done I felt like a 3rd grader. They definitely know what they are talking about. This will be my next mod once taxes are done...

 

It's worth it. I installed my system in two stages. First stage was the 6 speakers. I ran this for about a week until I had time to install the amp and sub. I was actually dis-heartened because I noticed very little sound improvement with only the speakers. It lacked presence and sounded weak (just like the factory speakers). After I installed the amp and sub, well, I was blown away. I still smile when listening to certain tracks.

 

Sub'd and I'm looking to buy this system if he's planning on doing a bigger sub I'd wait to purchase

 

I've owned my OEM Audio + 450Q for about 6 months now. I usually listen in the 15-20 volume level range which is loud enough to get the bass working, but not loud enough that it hurts to listen to things with the windows closed (it's cold currently here in PA). When it was warmer, I found myself wishing there was more bass. The bass limits itself so it doesn't distort around 25-30ish volume level. At that point the mids and highs keep going, but the bass stays where it's comfortable. It's definitely working to pump out some bass, but if OEM Audio + offered a 10" version that worked with the system, I would buy in a heart beat. I'd imagine they would almost have to offer a more power amp with the larger woofer being that the existing woofer is only 100 w RMS (200 w max).

Hopefully they put something together, but until then - I'll enjoy what I have.

Just talked with Dan and ordered the Premium package today....

 

It's been quite a while since I did a custom install. At the time dynamat was the sound deadener of choice. Is that still the case or something better come along? Thanks

 

Kinda depends on if your going full on or going mildly and your budget. I did mine in stages, outer door skins with dynamat extreme which is the most expensive.
2nd stage I did the inner skins with raamat and ensolite, very affordable and this link http://www.raamaudio.com/pages/How%2dTo.html gives great information. Thanks @Aw9d ! Stage 3 was rear wall with shok v2 thanks @flynnr ! and then covered with ensolite.

Very happy with results ! Better sound, no rattles and kills road noise.
I used a roller and a tennis ball to apply the material!

 

Great and thanks. I will be doing stages also but want to get some done as I'm installing new speakers. Just the basics to start.

 

Hopefully, I'm planning on installing the 6 speakers one day and the amp, wiring and sub the next.

Just dropped the hammer on the OEM+ 450Q. Also ordered Pkg #1 form Raam. I already think the cab is very quiet. I am coming from a 96 first gen that was pretty loud.

I've read opinions for and against this type of installation. The most prevalent is that you can piece a system together for less or better etc. Sure but I don't have the time or want to do it. I'm not lazy. I have a lot of projects around the house. Fixing up my First gen to sell, fixing my F650 Funduro to sell. Honey-doo's etc.

I spent the last 8yrs working for a pharmaceutical equipment mfg installing and servicing commercial washing and decontamination equipment. Wiring control boxes landing 10 bundles of 19 conductor cables, control conversions, and validation testing. I know my way around a schematics and functional specs. I can solder, crimp and splice just fine. Problem is I don't want to have to do it in my spare time. Sure I will if need be but I absolutely love the plug and play aspect of this installation. My free time is valuable and for me this type of installation is worth it.

And I haven't even heard it yet.


Funny thing, I just spent 4hrs yesterday cleaning in and re-wiring my current system in my first gen so I can sell the vehicle. Needed to clean up the wiring so it looked better. I have learned a lot in the 10 yrs since installing that system and I actually found some things I was like " What the F?" Had no idea why I did that. New power wires run and everything cleaned up and i swear the system sounded better. Funny.

Anyway sorry for the long post.

Can't wait for it to show up and see what all the hubbub is about!

Mine has just gotten really broken in good and I still think it was worth every penny, I think you'll be happy with it.

 

Well I hot my dynamat extreme pack to do all doors and back but it's just too cold to do it right. My OEM Audio package will be here tomorrow and will install it this weekend if weather permits. Will just have to do the dynamat this spring or summer

 

That's exactly what I was going to do. Just hope the rain or snow will hold off for an afternoon...Saturday is supposed to be only 10% chance but in the 30's

 

Unfortunately his garage in is the middle of frame off race car mods. I will have a heated garage after summer. Can spend all the snowy winters working on my 3 babys...

 

If you can install the Clazzios in that weather you can do it !

 

I actually had 3 dry days to do the clazzio's. But it was around 34.
I can cover it from the rain or snow but not the cold temps and winds.

 

The clips especially the white ones from the pillars will be difficult to remove in that temperature be careful cause they always need to be pinched out . Just a word of caution.
