    What's the advatage of using 17" wheels? I would think 16"s would be better offroad.....more rubber! Also easier to find a wider selection of tires. What r people running for after market 16" wheels? I'm looking fora similar color like the stock steelies or a mat black. Thanks guys!

    16" wheel tires are less expensive and easier to find...

    Its all about how you want to use your truck too and if you lift or not.

    thanks guys! so there is no real advantage other than looks? and being able to find a wider and cheaper selection of tires?

    can anyone suggest an aftermarket 16" wheel? i like the xd revolvers, but they seem to only come in 17"

    After researching for awhile I figured out all the good looking aftermarket rims started at 17"

    Thats the conclusion i just came to! I'd like to stay with 16" but then im limited to OEM TOYOTA wheels....guess i'll have to go 17"

    now the question is chrome or black :)

    Get you some 16" TRD FJ Cruiser wheels. A set of them popped up on here yesterday that were listed on eBay. OEM and mid $500 price range.

    Thought about that too.....I'm going for a slightly wider stance. and would like to wheels/tires to stick out about 1-2 inches past the fenders. I think i need a -12 mm offset....and alll the OEM , toyota, FJ , TRD, etc etc wheels are -12mm.

    that's why i was leaning towards the XD revolvers...they are -12mm

    i dont think thats true. i seen some nice 16's as i was looking for rims this week.most of the rims i was looking at start at 15's.try 4wheelparts.com, wheelsnext.com.

    Of the 8 wheels I narrowed my selection down to only 1 was 16". A 17" just looks better to me now, 16" is probably better on the trail but I'm more than happy.

Ford 9" rear after breaking 5 sets of gears in the stock yota 8.8, 5.13 gears with a detroit hard locker, 63" chevy leafs and custom hangers, sky's front spring hanger with sky's extream hysteer and PSC hydro assist ram and PSC pump. welded front spyders in the f-550 front dana 60 with warn hubs, pico brake lines and hoses, elecrtic fan, TRD supercharger with URD 2.1 Pully, URD Map-ECU2 and cage built by me. wide band a/f by inovations, lots and lots more...........
    ok go with 17" rim, tires arnt as pricy and the sidewall roll on the street is alot less im not sure if it was the 16" or the 16.5" that doesnt come with the normal bead seat on the rim dangerouse off road can loose a bead realy all deppends what you will be doing with the truck but 17" is better offroad also because you can deflate the tires more without loosing the bead as easily

    Better handling on the highway with the 17's if you stay with the stock proportions. Less sidewall to flex. So in this case less rubber the mo' better.

    better said than me i think.... lol plus would you rather pay less for a rim and lots more for tires ever couple years or more for a rim and not as much in tires every couple of years?
