Ah ok, still is a bummer. I know I probably need to replace my tie rods sometime soon. How many times have you broken your axles after LT?

This is my first one, basically it was due to the fact that the new lowers don't have steering stops built in to them. So when the tie rod snaps it over extends the axle causing a failure.

Ouch man, so part of the issue might be due to how the LT UCAs are designed?

No, the uca are fine is just the lca. It sounds silly but makes sense when you break a tie rod and you see how much It folds in.

I'd also take into account cv bind when the wheels are turned (not much you can do about it, but you've got be mindful that it's there). Stock cv's, long travel, and a front locker don't go well together once you start cranking the wheels

How do you guys go about painting your interior cages. Are some of them bolt on? Or just lots of masking? :D

Lets talk shock sizes, planning the panhard 3link with trailing arms and im stuck between 14/16" or 16/18" shocks. What i had originally planned i was gonna do 2.5 14" coil and 2.5" 16" bypass. i would look into a 2.0/3.0 but im worried about clearence from hitting the frame and also from the tire. Im shooting for 20" of travel and the more i read around im seeing the 16/18 shocks with the double cabs. id rather save the money from 16 to 18s and buy bump stops. Im locked in on doing the panhard but lets hear what others think as far as shock combos.

judging by the lower shock mounts of the links you're buying. You'll need the 16/18s. They are right by the axle.

Easy to mock up some PVC "shocks" with some sharpie marks on them to see before pulling the trigger.

yea i was thinking the same before i blow that money, metch is running 16/18 and then the truck JTA built is just 12" coilover and they are both at 20" of travel, figured 14/16 would be fine to get close to 20", also my bedsides are limiting also because the tundy axle.

I'm using 16/18 and done some preliminary sketches on solidworks I'm hoping to pull 23-24" strapped. With the mounting location on those links I'd definetly go 16/18 that way you'll for sure get atleast 20 strapped if its set up right. If you're gonna link it you wanna pull atleast 20". Longer shocks aren't much more expensive so no point in skimping there. If the mounts were farther forward on the links you could run 14/16's

You also should start figuring in a swaybar. It's tough on a parallel 3 link but plenty doable and unless you go with an unconvential setup it will be tough to add after the fact.

Which brings up a random question for me.

Wouldn't you want the shocks and coilovers further up the arm to slow shaft speeds to tune better as well?
