    Extenuating circumstances.....One of which is I'm ALMOST to retirement age. Don't want to start over.

    My job pays extremely well and has great benefits. Don't want to give that up just yet.

    Have a few health issues and don't want a lapse in insurance, no matter how short of a gap.

    My position here is such that I don't work very hard any more. Mostly administrative, and very easy. Would like to stick with that at my age.

    Finally, I'm hoping that recent events mean I'll outlast him. I have 28 years here and have seen 9 different general managers. Hoping to make it 10.

    He tried to fire me when he first got here. He's never had an employee that'll tell him no when the answer to a question is no....He didn't know how to handle that. We're a member owned club. At the board meeting where he was going to announce my firing, I got the jump on him and let a few people know. They in turn made a few phone calls. 330 members showed up and threatened to "make him disappear" if he tried to fire me. He's since found out he cannot get by without me. 28 years of hiding skeletons in various closets has made me sorta "valuable".

    And.....uh.....Keep it on the down low, but I'm thinking about doing exactly what you mentioned......cough.....cough....I feel a cold coming on.
