hmm..you'll probably want sliders. There is a rather rocky section in the middle after the switchbacks and with that tire size could be interesting. Might be okay though. But been a while since ive been there and im sure it's only gotten rougher.

Morrison is not a trail to start on either. You'll want to be very comfortable with your rig and its abilities. Trail is pretty dangerous if you loose focus or make a small mistake things can go bad in a hurry on the switchbacks.

Yes I have heard the switch backs are very dangerous. Thanks for the input....What trails would you recommended near the park

The best area is by Cooke City. You'll have a blast around those old mining roads and Goose Lake Trail is there too and also amazing and fun.

Not familiar with the ID side or north MT side. But otherwise you'll have come a ways out of the park.

what? No.. its not an LS3
    L33

"The Vortec 5300 L33 (VIN code "B") is an aluminum block version of the LM7, and was referred to as the Vortec 5300 HO in marketing materials. However it should be noted that the L33 uses a flat top piston from the 4.8L instead of the standard dish piston found in the LM7. It also uses 799 cylinder heads, which are identical to the 243 casting found on the LS6 and LS2 with the exception to the Corvette spec valve springs, and hollow stem exhaust valves on the 2002-2004 LS6. This combination increased the compression from 9.5:1 to 10.0:1. The L33 also had a specific camshaft not shared with any other engine, with lobe lift of 7.2 mm, 193 degrees of intake and exhaust duration, and a 116 degree lobe separation angle. As a result, power increased by 15 hp (11 kW), to 310 hp (230 kW) and 335 lb·ft (441 N·m). It was only available on extended cab 4WD pickup trucks. Only 25% of trucks made in 2005 had the L33 engine."

    LM7
"The Vortec 5300 LM7 (VIN code 8th digit "T") was introduced in 1999, and can be considered the "garden variety" version of the Generation III V8s.

    The 1999 LM7 engine produced 270 hp (201 kW) and 315 lb·ft of torque (427 N·m).

    The 2000-2003 engines made 285 hp (213 kW) and 325 lb·ft (441 N·m).

The 2004-2007 engines made 295 hp and 335 lb·ft of torque, it has a cast iron block and aluminum heads.

The stock cam specs @ .050 duration are: 190/191 duration, .466/.457 lift, 114 LSA, 112/116 Timing"

    and again

    "
    5.3 L
The Vortec 5300, or LM7/L59/LM4, is a V8 truck engine. It is a longer-stroked (by 9 mm (0.35 in)) version of the Vortec 4800 and replaced the L31. L59 denoted a flexible fuel version of the standard fuel LM7 engine. Displacement is 5.3 L (5,328 cc (325.1 cu in)) from 3.78-inch (96 mm) bore and 3.622-inch (92.0 mm) stroke. Vortec 5300s are built in St. Catharines, Ontario and Romulus, Michigan. Another engine variant, the L33, shares the same displacement, but has an aluminum block with cast in cylinder liners, much like the LS1."

The L33 is literally just an aluminum version of the LM7.

    And again..

"The 4.8 L and the 5.3 L are smaller truck versions of the LS1 and were designed to replace the 305 and the 350 in trucks. Both the 4.8 L and the 5.3 L share the same engine block, heads (upper end) and as they share architecture, some parts interchange freely between these engines and other variants in the LS family."

Believe it or not. I want it to save weight :anonymous: ha

Its more expensive then a normal 5.3L generally. But usually can be had for 4-800 bucks.

yea the iron block is much stronger. But I think i'd just Cam it and put better heads on it then tune it. Should put it over 400hp. Then if i get to it, i'll turbo it for low boost to get it over 500 to 600. Be PLENTY i'm sure haha

Yea at this rate. I think i'll do the motor swap next. Get that dialed in and working well. Be a ton of work. Then work on 4 link rear/cage/engine cage after that. That way i can play while having the bigger motor and save up for the other shit.

I'll probably guy a motor and just go ahead and tear it open, check it, and do cams and head work while its out. Can't hurt and i won't want to do it after its sitting happy in the truck.

I'll probably need to go down to 4.10s or 4.30s or 4.56s ha on Grimm Jeeper calculator with 4.10s and 35s with the NV4500 and all 1st gear is lower then my current setup. But 5th is taller by a lot.

Just saying that out loud sounds nice...but damn...shit load of work and money. Wish i could start now..haha

and here is a guy who won't buy new coil overs for his cherished offroad rig..

but would pour money into making a shitty rear mount turbo for his shitty dodge POS with a turbo that is too small for his car...
