Subbed. I have some AP sliders on the way. Anyone know if they added predrilled holes yet for the box?

 

Highly unlikely, but the install is still easy. My bracket went on fine, and just had to trim the plastic cover with a dremel. Added like 10 minutes to the install.

 

I saw the install guide on their site. Do you still have to drill out the front 4 holes and the bottom holes too?

 

Yep. The drilling isn't too bad if you're prepared. I did the method above where you sandwich a drill between the frame and a floor jack and slowly raise it. Use a step bit and some WD-40 as drilling oil, and buy yourself 2-3 bits.

Doesnt seem too bad. Did yall paint/spray the holes after you drilled them to prevent corrosion from the inside?

 

Yep! Nothing fancy though. Just wiped it off with a rag and hit it with some flat black spray paint. The best way to do it is to mount the slider with only 2-3 bolts to just get it in place, then start drilling the holes. Drop the slider, finish the drilling and paint and dry. once you do the second side, the first sides paint should be dry enough to mount the first sides slider.

FWIW, I only drilled the 4 bottom holes, and not the 5th one that's at the very rear. It was a PITA and I figured not having that single bolt there wouldn't make a difference, since there's 13 bolts per side IIRC.

 

Sounds good. Doesnt sound too hard. The beginning of the thread made it seem like a mess to install lol

 

It's no walk in the park, but you can get it done by yourself. I bought mine second hand and they were line-x'd, which made it a pain to get bolts to go all the way through the holes, since the line-x is thick. All in all it took me 6 hours, but should be easier if you're just painting. On the drivers side in the front, the brake lines will be in the way of getting the nutplate thing in the frame. I spent a good hour with it taped to a stick to get it lined up. Turns out you can just undo one bolt and push the brake lines out of the way and fit your arm in there. That'll make life a lot easier.

 

Wife is gonna help install it so having extra hands should help a lot. I'm going to use the spray can bedliner spray, fairly thick when it dries but it should be ok.

Prepped and painted one slider

 

I installed my All Pro Apex Sliders this weekend and ran into the same issues mentioned earlier. I reinstalled the black box, but could only use one of the original holes. It seems to be fine. For the brake lines, I removed the clip and used the hole for the slider hardware and split the two lines around the nut. I used some insulation and electrical tape to wrap the part contacting the nut. Will have to check after a while to make sure it holds. I did the install solo and it took about 8 hours.

The trolley jack drill press worked like a charm. The upside down drilling was not a problem.

 

Is this really a 6-8 hour job!? I upgraded suspension on all 4 corners in less than half that! I'm starting to miss my FJ more and more. Just bolts that went straight into pretapped holes in the frame. Maybe a 30 min job without an impact. I knew these weren't going into pretapped holes but didn't know it was that much work. I'm starting to dread this install. They are just sitting in the garage painted...waiting.

Also I'm assuming my hardware is wrong? I don't have countersunk bolts for one, and nothing else matches. Does this look right to you guys? It's for the All Pro HD sliders on a 2017 DCSB.

33 washers, 16 bolts, 17 lock washers, 16 nuts and the plates.

 

I see 16 bolts. 8 per side. Sounds right.

 

What about countersunk bolts for the bottom edge?

The extra washer and lock washer made me wonder if I was missing more.

 

If you have the right qty then they sent the wrong hardware.

You should have, and need, some counter sunk bolts. I think 6-8 of them.

 

That's what I was thinking. I sent an email to @allpro with the same picture. Definitely don't have any countersunk bolts. .
