    Simple math. How long are the links and how far up the link is the shock mounted?

    For mine 48" links with shock at 26". So if you take a 14" shock the math would be...
    14/26 = x/48 and cross multiply
    14(48) = 26x
    672=26x
    25.84"= x

    So with a 14" coilover I would get 25.84" travel at the axle. This is linear and the links travel on an arc but gives you an idea. My links are for extra cab so your numbers are different but you can plug in coilover length and see what it changes

    OK here goes, some of these differences are very subtle like the finishes. That may be due to wear or the way the manufacturer finished the surface of the metal.

    The only things I don't have is an OEM axle shaft so I cannot compare a CVJ and OEM shaft, but I don't think I've ever heard of someone breaking an axle shaft. But it would be interesting to see the difference between the 2.

    I don't know where the difference in parts is coming from.....maybe they are older versions of the parts from earlier second gens? I am also wondering if CVJ is mixing and matching parts from FJs, 4Runners, and Tacomas to assemble these.

    I didn't notice any differences in the tripod cups.

    Also I didn't notice it until I posted the photos but the CVJ cage has larger windows and is slightly larger than the OEM cage.

    If you angle the shocks enough anything is possible.

    He won't get much angle being a double cab, the shocks are pretty close to the cab. Its also better to set up the shocks to be at 90* to the trailing arm at full bump. It would be better to just get the right shocks

    I was being sarcastic. 20"of usable travel with a 14" bypass mounted that far back would be tough to get. But with no upper mount I guess the travel would be infinite.

    If the shafts aren't breaking, then being LT is irrelevant, still the same amount of torque on the inners/outers with a 3" or 3' shaft right, it's the tire size?

    Good point, I didn't even think to see what tire size he was running. 37's will push stock components past their limits. That also explains the broken tie rods. Time to swap to d44 hubs.

    Tire and gearing too. Didn't see the post about this happening after a busted tie, not really much to do to prevent that.
