Sounds like the truck goes into the shop so often that they probably don't take your complaints seriously anymore. These trucks do make noises compared to a BMW...close the windows, turn up the stereo and drive it like you stole it!

Should have bought a 3rd generation, these 2nd generations are junk. 10 years making them and they still couldn't get it right.

Ah no. I have a '12 with 60k on it and nothing has gone wrong with it. It's one of the most reliable trucks made which isn't an opinion but a fact.

Every two weeks he takes it in for "ticking". They probably smell him coming.

Maybe it was/is a LEMON - that's why the previous owner unloaded it! I'd find a way, to find it a new home.

The truck was a lease vehicle. What's funny is dealership service is telling me it's the transmission and that's it's not normal but warranty doesn't want to cover it at all. Working with a case manager with Toyota USA and will here from him an the next steps they are going to take to fix this issue.

Get rid of it...sell it, trade it or whatever. Use a different dealer...

Yep. OP still hasn't convinced us there is even anything wrong with the truck. At 30k any 2nd gen should still feel brand new unless it was majorly abused.

Transmissions are covered 5 years/60K miles. If Toyota is saying they will not cover it, they must have found signs of abuse.

If I took my truck in for every noise, Toyota would probably ban me from their property. 2015 with 95k on the clock with only having one major issue, stupid air pump bs.

This has nothing to do with certified used, in fact you should be thanking your lucky stars its certified used or those things might not have been covered at all.

Certified just means a continuation of warranty. It isn't a pinky sware the truck will have no problems for life.

Toyota makes shitty trucks. Welcome to the club. I bought my first and last one as well.

PS lemon law only comes into effect with a single issue, not multiple. By that I mean they have to have made three attempts to fix or replace the same complaint before Lemon Law can be a consideration. Looks like you have had your issues resolved. Even though there are many problems.

I was freaking out with shudder, tick, noise issues with this truck but after research come to find they are normal for this vehicle. It just isnt designed that great.

If you want a family vehicle which is also a truck, let me steer you in the direction of the Ford F150. The Tacoma is NOT a family vehicle. Not unless your children will remain the size of a two year old forever.

Owned Fords for over 10 years. Only one repair between them all (power steering pump under $400) and all of them used with over 100k miles. No clunking no ticking no shit factory suspension.

I have two theories on the "Taco tick":
They sound like they are running too lean upon startup when cold, or the valve timing is slightly off due to higher oil viscosity when cold (I have heard the valve timing is reliant on oil pressure, but this may just be a rumor, I don't know).

    Ticking? Turn the radio up...

Seriously though, I'll admit my 01 was more trouble free than my current 09. BUT...my 09 has a LOT more features and it's worth the slightly added maintenance. Honestly, the problems you list on the first page dont' really seem much like problems with the vehicle, more like points about the vehicle you personally don't like. Mine was a certified used/leased vehicle and I'm going to keep it until it dies. It's my daily driver and I don't want to get anything else.

FYIW my 09 has 100,000 on it and my 01 had 198000 when I sold it.

Hmmmm...and almost 2000 posts on this forum....must be buyers remorse in the extreme. If I felt that way about any vehicle I owned, it would be sitting in some other driveway (and you should buy another Ford.) LOL

Sigh. Probably will be within the next year and a half.

Want to see the Ford Eco Diesel first.

Problems aside.. looks like you had the entire spring and summer of 2016 to do whatever you wanted to do with your family, without needing a single service appointment.

Turn down the drama just a hair. It sucks to be disappointed in a vehicle purchase, but if you hate it and have no confidence in it, get rid of it like everybody else does.
