    its engaging for a reason...

this thread is reminding me of the show canada's worst driver.
One of the guys said he disabled his ABS because it bothered him when braking, they told him its engaging because he's braking too hard and he didn't understand.

I like that it engages, helps stop you from spinning out.
One press is all I find I need.
Perhaps consider not flooring it so much when starting off in the snow?

    I understand why it's there
But it would be nice to be able to disable whenever. I find it easier to drive without it engaging, if the truck starts to slide I compensate and continue on. Also coming from an STI to this truck may have something to do with it too

If you are sliding without trying, you have one or two problems:

    A) Your tires aren't good in the snow.

    B) You are driving too fast for conditions.

Sometimes you want to slide. Makes the trip more enjoyable.

I don't think there was ever a time in any car that I've owned that I didnt try to slide in the snow or the rain

    This
So turn it off before setting off.

First press is all you need for snow. It stops traction control but not stability which is all you should need for safe driving. And if you want to have fun just stop and turn it off.

    I know
Which brings me back to my original question if there was a way to turn it completely off because there's always a time when your already underway and need/want it off

    not without stopping.
I wonder if its based on ECU or if there's a speed sensor wire somewhere that you can just ground.

I am in...I would love a "fun button" that can turn off all that fun wrecking stuff on the fly...and right back on when I am done drifting up the mountain!

    Yes!
I've been looking into it when I find the time but lately that's rough. I'm hoping someone chimes in who has gotten this figured out!

Speed sense has been bypassed successfully in the anytime navigation mod, perhaps ask someone that has done that bypass to test it?

    Nothing worthy
Habit for me from the day I owned my 1st gen IS300 some 15 years ago, I just turn it off before I even put it in drive, even on dry pavement.. again, habit.

However, would love an "on the fly" solution

I don't know what they call it but it bypasses the speed sensor so they can enter navigation while moving, the engine system won't allow it by default.

What I had done was when ever I start my truck it's off. I can turn back on while moving but to turn back off I need to be stopped. Only time I put it back on is to use my cruise. So every time I start out it's off and that's what I wanted

depends on where the sensor is.

That speed sensor is for the nav system is it not?
Might have a separate one for the VSC

It engages again even when holding the button down if you start to slide a certain speed. 2wd desert driving for example. You want to slide.

A short press of the vsc button should give you no engine traction control, alsd, and no vsc up to 30mph. I’ve done some nice drifts in the rain without vsc kicking in and killing the fun. When it does kick in it sucks for me, no sway bar, my truck winds up leaning more in the wrong direction.

With the vehicles being networked, can buss I think it will take a clever programmer to do the short press kill all traction control. Maybe OV tune.
