Cost mainly. The L92 would be sweeeettt but going to be harder to find and cost more haha And the 5.3 will be lighter. Though not much. I'll keep it in mind while shopping. Be insane to have a 6.2L V8 in a tacoma hahaha

NV4500 is my splurge I refuse to have an auto and that is pretty much my only solid choice. I found an adapter kit for my current tranny and Tcase to bolt to it..but no way would it last.

Dana 20 again because its strong and also cheap. though i guess if i can get an NP205 i would.

Edit: actually no, no NP205, front DS is on the wrong side. A NP241 would be better.

Wyoming and Wind are hand in hand my friend. Hard to escape it.

Oh i keep forgetting your there now haha

just wait till summer..then i'd like your final assessment on the place haha that is if you'll be there through the summer.

Well starting with what you probably already know Star Valley is defined by Alpine at its north end and Afton on its south end. Alpine, Etna and Thayne are essentially just commuter bases for the Jackson workforce, although quite a few people commute from as far as Afton. I lived in Alpine for a year and a half and it's a great place...if you don't have to commute to Jackson everyday. The fly-fishing, snowmachining and atv'ing are world class...but that describes about 50% of wyoming. If you're turned off by the idea of having 6ft snow banks going into your place December to May its probably not the place for you. If you have anything approaching a 100yd driveway you'll need a good plow truck and a skid steer with a 8' blower on it. Lastly not that it's either here nor there but Afton is at least 75% LDS.

I'm no fan of Jackson either, it's a fantastic location that's been ruined by a combination of wealth, incompetent local government and over regulation at the federal level. For a true sportsman any of the outlying towns around the 'hole make far better domiciles. Technically I'm in Moran or Dubois.

The stoke will die my friend, the stoke will die...:boom:

All of wyoming can be windy, the central part of the state IS windy (Casper). The tax advantages are huge, that's why half of Silicon Valley, San Francisco, Manhattan and D.C. live here. In a perfect world all of us would spend June-mid October in western Wyoming and November thru May in Scottsdale or Encanitas.

Thanks. Snow would be an adjustment for me and even though it sounds appealing, I've never lived with it like y'all do. I actually had to google snowmachining to see what it referred to. Knowing nothing of Wyoming I checked a few real estate sites and quickly realized Jackson was not for me but Star Valley offered a wide variety of home price points and a fair amount of land for sale. No clue what it means to live in a community that's heavily populated by LDS but so long as it doesn't impinge on my personal freedoms - I'm fine with it.

Now when we say windy are just talking about frequent winds around 20 to 30mph seemingly all the time or the storms that take the roof off your house and sets it in your neighbors back yard? Asking because I've lived in the plains area of Texas for the past 6 years (south end of Tornado Alley) and was hoping some place with mountains or anything other than the flat boring terrain around here might break up the weather.

Well, as wearing as it can be I can handle the snow better than Dallas heat and humidity in July and August. Other than the fact they require all outsiders to face Salt Lake, bow down and pray to Joseph Smith everyday at noon the whole LDS thing isn't that big of a deal...Joking of course.

I'd say its fair to go there and live for a while before really committing to it. Need to live through 1 winter to really see if you're good with it.

From what I know of LDS they are usually freedom loving folks. Kind of why they migrated to Utah in the first place. Constitutionalists, want the government out of their lives, but things change and aren't always black and white of course.

Especially in places like Casper you can have days where there is a steady 30-40mph breeze all day long.

The mountains make the weather...even weirder and hard to predict and will change in minutes. can rain 5 times in a day with small storms and blue bird every minute in between haha

The wind tends to be frequent and gusty. I know in southern Wyo can get up to constant of 30-65+mph..won't be that bad in Star Valley though.

Usually afternoon winds it seems like in that 20 mph range. Occasionally get the crazy 60 plus mph winds but it's not the norm. But the plains probably get more of it and prettty consistent. Really depends on the location in wyo. I know lander generally is considered mild to places like cheyenne and Rawlins which are on the south end of the state

I am purely joking, have lots of Mormon friends, typically are great people. Generally are the first ones to poke fun at themselves, it's just that in places like Afton and lots of towns in Idaho not being LDS definitely makes you an oustsider.
