Good question.
1. How much is the Toyota factory rebuild kit? I think I might lean towards this, because my original boots are 13 years old and going strong.
2. How much is the SDHQ? What's so great about these?
3. Is the SDHQ offerred as a rebuild kit?

 

I have the tool. If I can find it, you guys can borrow it.

I was under the impression that the thick OEM outer boots and after market high angle inner boots are the best combo. That's how I order my axles anyway.

 

Sdhq are supposed to be high angle, it's $35 or so for one CV.

 

Nice. That's cheaper than my way.

Yea doesn't come with grease or anything... They don't even come with inner boot clamps

I may try to re gear and instal an arb myself.anyone got a lead on an 8.4" arb locker? This is the main cost for me so if I can cut down I can really save some money

 

Do yourself a favor and price out all the parts first. R &P, new bearings, shim kit, locker, etc.
Then price it through ECGS. It worked out to about $150 more to have them do it. I have experience doing rehearsal, and would rather work an extra day and pay them to do it. Plus they give a warranty.

 

Regear yourself isn't that like really difficult to do right?

 

It is not difficult. Especially compared to a Dana axle. However experience helps, and some specialty tools. Dial indicator for one.
