It won't look like that. The body is just for testing purposes. Ford has already stated it will have a different and unique design from the European and other models.

That was just a test mule. I was posting to show smitty its happening. I am waiting for the new Ranger before I purchase a new truck but still hang around here because I just can't go a whole week without reading some TW madness.

Land Rover has had boxed frames since 1949. And they have been rotting out since 1950 ...

*guy with two land rovers with new galvanized chassis*

The rust could be fixed for $200 a vehicle by simply hot dip galvanizing the frames. But no one does that. Not sure why.

    . . . ^ ^ ^ . . . Good info ... thanks OP

You are correct on the weights of a "C" vs a "Boxed" ... because the section modulus has to be greater on the "C".

We used to design special chassis' for special military applications ... AND ... for the most part ... keep the frame rigid ... and tweak the suspension ... BUT .. there are a few exceptions too.

Personally, my guess is Toyota was burned on "frame rust" and opted for the "C" for no trapped mud and moisture & etc. (especially since the trucks are widely used in many 4x4 situations in snow, salt, and mud).

Not really the case. Manufactures are adding an additional fuel system (low pressure port) on top of the direct injections to meet the next tier of emission requirements. Toyota did not need to meet these requirements for 2016, but since an engine was developed to be used when the next emission requirement hit Toyota added the port injection as well.

The port injection does aid in cleaning the back side of the intake valves, but the main reason the additional fuel system was added was to reduce emission levels at cold start where with only direct injection you spray fuel onto cold cylinders causing higher emission levels until warm. This was something that had to be addressed per the EPA/ARB.

People should just buy used first gens and be happy with a solid ride and better off roader then what's sold today. No frills...just thrills and it looks nice while doing it.

    It'll look like this:

Just smaller. Ford wants all of their pickups to wear a similar front end for brand recognition.

    The test mule is this:

I have friends who work for Ford. They literally dropped a few different engines and transmissions into the Australian model for testing. The underpinnings from the Australian truck, including it's Hilux beating offroad features like water fording, will be included on the American model.

That's awesome. Especially with bearded dudes fly fishing. All we need is Putin the background, shirtless on a horse and maybe some chicks in bikinis hanging out of the truck bed with some ice cold buttweisers

Have you ever seen a truck brochure. It's all work site, frame, fishing, and camping pics lol. When the wife and I recently bought an Escape we looked through the brochure and the first thing I noticed was how little truck brochures talk about safety, commuting, and grocery getting compared to everything else even though that's all people really should care about on a city truck, which is how most trucks are used now. The Escape did have one photo of it navigating a dusty road somewhere almost like what Jeep tries to do with the Cherokee, which no one is buying into lol.

I dont know if you are serious in posting this dudes complaints, but his complaints are almost as lame as his sunglasses:

Guy buys a supercab and complains about the suicide doors. No shit it might be tight when you are IN A TIGHT PARKING SPOT.
    All touchscreens have fingerprint issues.
Door seal is pretty annoying well fix it then
Complaining about a PICKUP not having REAR TRACTION.SNORE
Mirrors and visors... that pretty much says it all

Will the new Ford Ranger have an aluminum body ??? ... that could be a game changer for me ... I love aluminum bodies (damage and all).

If not ... how will Ford sell the attributes of both steel and aluminum  ... Ford has some serious issues to solve ... if they do it well ... many will buy the new Ranger.

    rhetorical question:
how many TW members who advised against purchasing a 3rd gen because is needed to have the bugs worked out will forget this and purchase the (really new) Ranger?

...^^^... I was mainly talking about ... "Aluminum vs Steel on Beds & Bodies" ... if Ford builds the Ranger in steel and F-150/250 in aluminum.

I was not making any criticism about your post. I also think many Tacoma owners will be giving the Ranger a good look see. For the record, I don't put much stock in that "don't buy the 1st year."

It is not All New, the Ranger has been in production around the world, we are going to get that Ranger with some new Sheetmetal so no real bugs to work out.

NA will get a larger gas engine option as well. Ford is tight lipped on which one. If I had to guess it'll be the 2.3 L Ecoboost. That will give them class leading power and a lighter front end then any V6 or Diesel 1/4 ton. Plus the 2.3 L already has a version that is designed for a 6 speed automatic rear wheel drive application (Mustang).

I was thinking the same thing but given how bad my luck has been on the turd gen, I doubt the ranger could be any worse. My last Ranger was awesome.
