I want to buy a good quality low mount black, aluminum cross mount single lid tool box, and I'd like to know which ones are crap and should be avoided.

This is what I'm looking for.

    Thanks.

Buy the UWS and be done with it. I have two, a brand new one and a 10 year old one and both still look good and are water tight.

Don't worry about finding out information on crap boxes, buy a good one and be happy.

    Thanks

Awesome, as that is the one I was already leaning towards.

Do you happen to have the part number for the box you ordered for you're 2016.

Amazon will say it doesn't fit the 2016 but it does. I will say the packaging of Amazon sucks though, try to find a different vendor if you can. Mine came in a cardboard box with no padding, and it was dented a little like they kicked it to my house. Its a toolbox so i wasnt too bothered but if you want it pristine, dont order from Amazon.

The first one I ordered was from UWS directly and it was packed just fine, no issues with that.

Use a set of DeeZee tie downs to secure it.

    Thanks.

I had already machined up 4 threaded aluminum T-nuts that fit the side rails really nice, so I'm going to make some threaded blocks that will bolt to the T-nuts that will accept the mounting bolts for the tool box.

I'm thinking about buying one, do you have any movement with the dee zee tie downs? I'm sure it's strong, but was worried about the grip biting into the rail moving.

No movement but I also have doublesided tape between the box and top of bed for cushion and additional grip.

I agree get the UWS. I had a cheapo and it leaked, wouldn't latch correctly, sometimes pop open.

My buddy with a UWS had not issues, and nobody was going to break into that thing.

I've had great luck with ProTech, UWS, and DeeZee

I have a kobalt for the cross over and my 36" UWS for the side just came in today, but yes I went with USA quality this time.
