Power sliding passport window

I know there is alot of discussion about this feature. Just test drove a 2017 currently own a 2016 Tacoma. They now come standard with a power sliding rear window.

After speaking with two dealerships now, they cannot (for some reason) supply me with parts numbers for the following:

- rear window regulator
- wiring harness
- switch
- whatever else is involved in this factory option (power sliding passport window)

Anyone own a 2017 and can you post some pictures of the window itself and how the regulator/cable system or whatever sorcery it is attached to the window?

As I see it, I should be able to order these parts online and swap them right in for somewhere around $500 (hopefully much less)

This is the option I want to go with as I want this mod to look completely factory. I'm not interested in aftermarket mods and parts. I just prefer factory OEM.

Can someone please shed some more light on this or guide me in the direction of looking up my own part numbers?

You'll need not just the parts but the whole window assembly. You're looking at $1000 easy. Power sliding window really worth that much?

 

I can't help with part numbers but I can only imagine your talking close to $2k in parts

 

My thoughts exactly. I haven't used my slider in a year or more.

 

Makes me laugh. So when the 18 comes with safety sense and power seats are guys gonna be trading in/dropping a couple grand for that too...gotta keep up with the TW joneses. Good luck OP but it's more than just the slider parts, aftermarket would be a lot cheaper and easier solution if Ben still sells those kits.

 

They changed that much in one year? I'm not trying to be rude here but do you know that for a fact? Or is this just an assumption? Because I'm definitely assuming the windows themselves are the same. Even if I just got the regulator and switch I'm sure I could figure something out

 

Yes I do know for a fact I have a 17 and had a 16. Why would I reply if I didn't know this for fact? It's a whole different window assembly just look at pics between 16 and 17.

 

No but I definitely think Toyota should have had a power rear window back on the 2nd gen... Pretty important to me for what my needs are. And I wouldn't dare trade my truck in for such a modification.

There is always a workaround. I honestly refuse to believe this is going to cost $1000-2000....

This. The windows are the same from 2nd gen to 2016. Would be your best bet OP.

 

I'll give someone $50 to smash in my window... Get an Autobody friend to order parts for 2017... Sold.

The only time I've opened the slider was to see how loud it was on the freeway. It didn't make that much noise

You'd need to pay your deductible unless your friend is kind enough to share his insurance info with you

That power window is not worth $1000-2000... But it is definitely worth my $300 deductible

Actually looks like my best option is waiting for a write off in the next 7 years... Replacement insurance... Brand new truck...
