Hello everyone. Have a 2017 Double Cab Limited that's bone stock at the moment with 1700km on her. I've had her for 3 weeks.

I noticed this a few days after receiving the truck but have been busy with work and what not (not to mention the weather has been bad these weekends).

On both the passenger and drivers side of the engine bay there are two holes with nuts welded on the backside. I'm not sure what they are for, but regardless..

The driver's side still have the factory paint on the threads and are fine.

The passenger side has rust beginning on the threads, which to me indicate that fasteners were once put into these..

Does anybody have any clue what could have been located here above the ABS unit, that was removed before my taking delivery of the truck ???? Has anyone else noticed this ?

    Thanks in advance.

The guy who installed that hokey looking wiring probably tried to find a suitable ground by running the bolt in and out a few times in the holes trying to get a metal chassis contact. Looks like whoever did it ended up using that bracket with the bolt already attached.

Could very well be, I hadn't thought of that. The way they did that wiring (DEALER!) makes me feel a little iffy about bringing it back to them for servicing.... Esp considering there's a suitable grounding spot on the OTHER side of the engine bay where the wire originates from. They also forgot to trim a zip tie lead which got stuck in the fusebox when attempting to close it the first time I opened it up, bending the lip around the cover of the fuse box a little bit

Dealers contract stuff out too. They don't always do these aftermarket add-ons themselves. They call someone in and this crap is done in the back lot. That's how it was done at the dealers I worked at.
Sorry, not sure what that stuff is, but it looks kinda hacked. They didn't even trim the excess green ground wire and just wrapped it around another existing loom! It would be faster to cut it. LOL. I'd bring it up with the dealership and have them correct it.

Spray some rust check or Corrosion Free on those threads and issue gone.

That excess wire wrap. It makes it look like a 5th grade science fair project.

I can't be the only one who finds it funny that the rust is right next to the shitty wiring on one of those electronic rust module boxes.

Slightly ironic to say the least... I'm going to clean up the wiring myself.

Added some Fluid Film issue gone. Just thought it was a little odd.

This is my first new vehicle so first time dealing with dealership... not looking forward to it really

EDIT: The stealership also Rainx-ed all the interior windows (unless they come with something on them from the factory). Spent a few hrs cleaning it all off today.

Yeah, my new truck took two good tries to get the windows clean.... Just the factory environment and the lack of proper cleaning from the snot-nosed kid at the Dealer..!! (the one that washed your truck and kept dropping the mitt in the gravel)... hehe
