I'll be camping at sheep canyon tonight if anyone wants to stop by for a beer and karate lessons.

Hey since you guys tend to be harder on your trucks and probably more in tune with shit that breaks, i have a question. Sometime in the last week my truck has developed a clunk. Its inconsistent which has been difficult to determine what might be the issue. Sometimes when im braking it clunks, sometimes while turning, sometimes while just oulling into the driveway. Steering feels normal, braking is normal, ive checked springs, sway bar, top bolts on the shocks, hell even the lights behind the grill. It just sounds like something is loose and every now and then smacking something. Not hard or anything, just loud enough to be annoying. Ive turned to the ol crank the stereo till i cant hear it but i should probably figure it out before a tierod snaps on a freeway turn or something.

Any other places you can suggest to look?

Just started experiencing the same thing a couple weeks ago, then it went away. Wish I knew what it was. Planned maintenance happening tomorrow, see if I find something loose.

So I know the weekly brewery meetups are going well, which is great and I love meeting new people with a common interest, but how do you all feel about doing a monthly trail meet for San Diego?

I know the AZ guys have started a thread, what do you think? Obviously we have time to debate. March is JT and most will be there so April would be next. Nothing crazy, just set a date every month to have a trail run somewhere local. Give us a reason to get out and enjoy our rigs.

That sounds like it can be fun, but I think I'm at the point with my truck that it will now get towed most places. Except for maybe day trips to Big Bear, Cleghorn, or Pilot Rock. I'm too rough on it and now expect to be inoperable after wheeling trips.

Maybe try popping this idea in the one of the San Diego threads, they have a general bs thread that's active. Most of this thread's active members are from LA & OC area, although we do occasionally head down that way for Ocotillo, Superstition etc
You planning on tackling the notches next weekend?

I'll definitely mess around in the notches Thursday night. There are usually only a handful of early arrivers there that night. Not all the crazies.

I think my challenge will be at the waterfall. A big crowd cheering you on, hoping you roll. So many highly modified and high-hp rigs have failed on it, but my brother's ifs, heavy ass, fully armored, taco made it looks like childs play and it blew everybodys mind.

His crawlbox was the secret, and I don't have mine installed yet.

No, stock UCA for now. Its not the BJs, checked them and everything is snug. I'll check out the rear bed issue during daylight. Riloing apart the interior to steam clean it so i guess that'll be as good of time as any

Gonna install the 4x4 wheel hubs, aisin lock outs, and new bearing/seals this week. Gonna be that much closer to finishing the conversion. Getting the parts together has been a test of my patience but I'm stoked it's finally time to wrench.
