Sure thing. If you can apply current directly to it (idk how much, didn't do this), I imagine you should be able to verify it's the actuator. Or just replace it and hope for the best lol. I had narrowed it down a lot, so I was pretty sure, but ultimately that's what I did.

I know this isn't the buy or sell thread but this fell out while I was driving. Anybody happen to know a part number or have one they want to sell?

An axle housing all the parts, seals nuts, nuts, brake parts, bolts to put it all back together. My rear axle housing is scabby and I got tired of looking at ones that were "good used" which were just as scabby.

idk much about the pricing on them parts, but it doesn't sound like a bad deal for new.

Stock for now, factory locker, gray wire mod, chrome rims came on it and will be leaving soon(painted or otherwise!).
I'm going to hope it's the actuator, I checked all the wiring and it looks to be in good shape along with the plug. Crossing my fingers but I'm pretty confident lol

Got some spindles of clist for $120 and bearings from my buddy.

Gonna gusset these, put fresh bearings and BJ in it and install it.

Also had a weird issue coming home the other day. Left work, look down and see battery light on. My voltmeter in my cab was reading 12.1 and slowly going down, then all of a sudden started going back up and hit 14 when I got home. Left it for 5 mins, turned it back on and it was only at 12.1 at start but solid 14 running. I was expecting it to not start today thinking it was the battery, but it started right up and was running at 14v. I did notice my main wires going to my positive terminal were loose so I tightened those, could they have kept my alternator from work for a second? Wouldn't the truck shut off though?

I would check the smaller connector that goes to the alt to make sure it is fully clipped in.

This is probably a ridiculous question but would 2nd gen fox coilovers fit a 1st gen?

Since this is the "what did you do to your first gen today thread, thought I would add my work.

Got my truck back from my son two weeks ago and have been working on it ever since. "03 2.7 5 speed extended cab. All original, 216K miles.
    • Rotated tires.
    • Super cleaned the interior starting with headliner working my way to the carpets. Okay, I am a clean freak. My son unfortunately smoked once or twice in it ( he has no wised up and stopped smoking) but there is a burn mark in my drivers seat! Making me nuts, have to fix somehow. Anybody got some material from an '03 SR5? Light blue/gray?
    • Replaced tie rod ends.
    • Removed rusted U-Haul trailer hitch and rear bumper.
    • Started the frame cleaning process from that point. Power washed rusted areas. Frame good shape otherwise, was treated by Toyota a few years back after it passed inspection. Bought POR 15 to apply where possible.
    • Removed rear shocks, to be replaced.
    • Removed electric trailer brake and wiring. Not towing with my truck. Son pulled a small camper for a bit.
    • Changed oil. Has been done every 5K miles since I owned it new, Mobil One.
    • Change transmission and rear end oil.
    • Changed brake and clutch fluid.
    • Changed air filter, cleaned filter box.
    • Cleaned MAF sensor.
    • Removed rusted portion of bed by right side rear wheel. Opened up a pretty substantial hole. All good metal left, going to patch in new and that area accordingly. Left side fine, weird. Was not noticed because hidden by BedRug. So the repair will be hidden too.
    • Repaired pop lock in tailgate. Lock frozen due to lack of use.
    • Treated door cavities, tailgate and rockers with Fluid Film.
    To be done.
    • Continue restoration of rusted areas on frame Just surface rust, but nonetheless.
    • Figure out why front diff not actuating when called to do so with lever. I am assuming it is the actuator itself, I can hear the relay clicking as I move the 4X4 lever, just no light on dash and not engaging. Anybody seen that before?
    • Replace bumpers, back has dent and rust starting, front has rust poking through. What is with the metal Toyota uses on frames and bumpers?
    • Replace rear shocks.
Long list, thanks for reading if you did. LOL

idk man, the actuator is a bit of a PITA to change since our 1st gens' steering racks are in the way. Have fun with that!
Also, they might be a little pricey. Can't recall exactly, since I got mine super cheap as part of a lot of used parts off CL.

    Too many…
I had this same issue last month. I was at 11v at a stand still then 12.5 at running I also seen I had something lose I tighten it up, it was the same. So I took of battery and alternator took both to get tested and passed. My friend had mentioned to me to change the terminals on the truck I changed then, I was getting 14.5v.

    improved toyota goodness.
check the vacume lines- at both ends specifically for cracks and/or dry rot... I replaced all the lines on mine right after I bought it for this reason... the cracks at the end of the lines would slowly leak and the ADD will not actually engage properly...
