Help, oil change

getting ready to do my first oil change since I purchased vehicle, open the cap and found a tan kind of milky substance on the cap and oil fill hole anybody know what the hell this is? do not want to change oil if it is something I should bring back to stlrship to look into...

 

just condensation mixed with the oil...no big deal, we have all seen it.

 

Just condensation that builds up in that area.
granted the oil you drain out looks ok, it is nothing to worry about.

 

Yeah- If the oil looks fine coming out of the pan you'll be okay.

The condensation happens because of the truck not warming up or running long enuf. No worries as long as everything else looks good.

Best thing to do to be sure is to wipe away the milky substance. Drive the truck for a while... like 50+ miles and then check the cap. LIke others said.. most likely is condensation esp when it's cold out.. but could also be coolant mixing with oil. If cap is clear after a long drive, then you're good.

 

Good point, I was just going to say that it could be coolant mixing with the oil; have seen this before.
I would also suggest checking your dipstick, and see if you can find that milky substance on it. If you don't you should be fine, if you do then you could have a major problem on your hands.
