When people say db lifts arent ideal, is that for rocky areas? Cause florida has no rocks lol just sand.

 

Well wouldnt the stance your able to ride with be able to counteract the cog? And couldnt 1 make a custom skid?

 

All db lifts are not the same, some 6" lifts really drop everything 6", that's feels not strong. RC 4" & 6" kits drops only 3", much better.

No, it depends of the coilovers, with extended ones you'd get. I have both, DB lift and extended COs:

It's because it doesn't gain any ground clearance or wheel travel from the lift itself. For every inch it lifts the truck, the drop bracket protrudes down (at one point or another, most are curved to mitigate this some).

The only ground clearance you gain with a db lift is due to larger tires, when you can have a 3" coil over lift where you gain 3" from the lift and how ever many inches you gain from going up in tire size, plus the added wheel travel.

The goal is as much ground clearance as possible without raising the center of gravity.

Center of gravity is raised too much for the minimal amount of actual ground clearance and wheel travel gained, when compared to other means (SAS) to run the larger tires associated with that amount of lift (37's).

 

Think again. I have 6" drop bracket lift which consists of 3" lifted crossmembers and almost 5" tall spacers. I get rid of the spacers and installed right length coilovers, now I can adjust 3-7" lift (run 4" lifted, rear 3"). COG remains the same than in traditional same amount of lift, suspension works better and angles are better. Needless to say it drives perfectly well.

 

So you have 4" of lift, but you're giving up over half of that to the lower cross member.

Could've run coil overs, gained 3" of actual lift and still run 37's with a little help from Mr. Sledgehammer and a cutting wheel. Or for the cost of a DB lift and coil overs, would've been close to LT price range; where you could have gained a ton of wheel travel and achieved the same 3-4" of lift.

Different strokes for different folks. You've preserved a lot of stock geometry, I'm sure that helps with highway handling. All depends on what the end goal is - tallest mid-size truck at the mall or best offroad performance?

 

I think that's about as clear cut as it gets in the differences OP. If you want to mall it up, just do a 6 inch cb lift. I wanted to stay classy when I mall so I went LT!
