I know this year was the first year of the redesign. This year also has the smog pump that makes that weezing noise.

Is the smog pump a concern?

Anything specific to this year I should watch out for?

    Anything anyone feels to add?

Only issue Ive had with my '12 was the door seals were weak, and would make noise in a big cross wind. A little bit of 1/4" irrigation tubing fixed that.

The smog pump, AIP is a concern on 2012s. There are plenty of posts with failed valves and pumps. $1000 bill to have a shop fix it.

Those are just the most recent ones. There are more.

I would install a bypass kit, and you should be ok. But still sucks.

If the price was right I would buy a 12. But if I could find a 13-15 for a reasonable price I would go that way. If you get a 12 do the bypass asap. It might be why it is for sale. Check those threads and owners are clearing the codes and trading them in rather than do the repair.

In 13 they made a change with the AIP and it reduced issues. It now runs at shutdown to try and purge moist exhaust.

If I went to autozone and plugged in the machine to read the codes would it pop up?

    Link to the bypass kit?

12 owner here, my pump is still going strong but the switching valves took a shit. I swapped them myself in the driveway in a couple hours .. it wasn't too bad but I expect these to fail as well. Might as well get an ultra gage or scan gage to clear the codes when it happens cuz you will be in limp mode.

Can you give me more info please?

I have a truck pending, it has super low miles for the year but I'd hate to drop that kind of money only to have issues.

Paint matched front grill. Black rear bumper.
Any info on this? I got a 12 and would like to do some preventative maintenance. I don't want and engine light if I can help it.

my truck has been perfect for near 100k miles, 1 little hiccup that cost me $300 isn't bad IMO. If you're that worried just get a warranty that covers exhaust parts.

Well I am buying the truck by owner. Is it possible to get the extended warranty still?

No but I am almost certain you can get one from your bank or credit union, if you're paying with cash / cashier's check just google a reputable company to give you one. You might not even have issues, but there have been quite a few.
