This post begs the questions. Where did you get the lights? Are they a perfect replacement, or do you have to "make" them fit?

Trust me, I have been looking for a place that is cheap and affordable to do a nice paint touch up... its bad on the hood and roof.

What do the lights look light when driving down the road? Can you see where you are going well?
    Thanks!

Ha you got the same problem as me. My roof's clearcoat is failing superbad and the hood is starting to get worse. I'm guessing it's a California thing.

I got quoted around $1,000 at a reputable body shop to do both the roof and hood.

I'd look for a junk yard hood or a part out and derp the roof or something. That's some $$$. If you lived closer to me I'd trade hoods with you plus a little $ since I'm going to be repainting my whole truck.

I will need to adjust them... they were pointing directing into other drivers eyes, hopefully I can adjust them so that they are pointing down and not up.

I was told to sand the hood my self and paint it, but I don't have the time or space... will most likely hit up a junk yard one of these days and see what I can find

You'd be surprised how rare Tacomas in junkyards are on the West Coast. There's something like 2 Tacomas reigistered at pick-n-pull's entire database for the state of California.

I might go the same route and repaint the whole truck. There's a Maaco by me in Fremont that has better ratings than actual independent bodyshops. Now I keep hearing horror stories about Maaco but it's cheap and I'm afraid something is going to start rusting soon.

Maaco did a pretty shit job color matching my shell, it's noticeably diffferent, but it was cheap. $280 I think. So I just live with it.

If you go that route do all of the prep work yourself and bring it to them just to spray out. Mask all of the areas well that you don't want painted. You can take your time hitting any rusty areas with whatever it takes to keep it in check - more attention to detail than they'll ever put so don't worry about "experience" being a factor here. A good paint job is the product of attention to detail in the prep stage and then yes experience comes into play in the application stage of the paint, but that's not what you're talking about doing. Just a little sanding, priming, and wet sand it right before you bring it in and you'll make the paint job last way longer than it would if it was all done by them - they'd probably just spray everything without checking it out first.

I'll be going this route with a roller because I used to paint houses:
