My lab destroys toys, so I buy him the elk bones. Those take a while. My basenji used to pull the threads out of the cloth toys like a surgeon.

Another snow day photo from Saturday. This time the GSP 'pouncing' at the Chessie, who still has the ball.

Pictures of Molly from 2001-2002 (7-8 years old). In the picture below, I put that toy truck there specifically for the photo (Molly loved to chew on stuffed animals when she was younger, but she never ate toy vehicles):

And then here I am in my "first car" with Molly following me around (Picture from May 1996):

    Willy and Ava...

Willy is the teddy bear of a Staffordshire Terrier who can be trusted around infants but is NOT afraid to stand up for his rights (he was maybe 5 in this picture)! Ava is my aunt's Standard Poodle who was probably still a puppy at the time:

Willy, and the conditioner at my aunt's house:
    327648_2387180356158_882336432_o.jpg

Willy was about 5 years old at the time, and the air-conditioner was about 24 years old! Take a look at the fan grille on that old beast, and you'll understand why my HVAC-themed YouTube channel is called "Stamped Octagon Productions."

Specifically, the air-conditioner is a 1987 Ruud Achiever Series, matched up with a Ruud 80% efficiency oil furnace. My aunt sold this house in 2012 or 2013 and the A/C was still fully operational when she sold it.

In 2010, I talked my aunt into let me take this thing apart for the purpose of cleaning it, and in the process I learned quite a bit about the inner workings of an air-conditioner. I shut off the power and removed the the top ("stamped octagon" grill and fan motor/blades), and while hosing the leaves out, I somehow managed to fill it almost to the top of the compressor with water...

This 1987 Ruud air-conditioner is probably about as frugal with power consumption as a Chevy Suburban 2500 of the same year is when it comes to fuel consumption, but like the Suburban it will last forever if you take care of it...

Willy with a family friend's dog on the same air-conditioner (Casey was a puppy at the time; again, as long you weren't a stranger trying to enter my uncle's truck, Willy was and still is a teddy bear):

I love vintage HVAC equipment and I love dogs even more. Put them together and you've got an absolutely adorable Kodak moment:328010_2387220517162_674186137_o.jpg

Found out the news we feared today from the vet. Link has now torn his other ACL. This time, instead of surgery, I think we are going with a company called My Pets Brace. They make custom braces that are considerably cheaper than the $4000 cost of the TPLO surgery that was performed on his left knee. It's always something.

Have any of you had any experience with My Pets Brace?

Search for conservative management. My pup tore his when he was around 2. From what I remember, the braces were not recommended. You can avoid surgery, and let scare tissue form in his knee. Takes a lot of discipline. Mine recovered, it was a long process, but not much different than the recovery from surgery. Good luck!

Mom said no couch tonight. That's ok, there's a perfectly good bed upstairs. Who's smarter than her humans?
