Going to use some sand bags to keep it from falling over? I imagine the wind will cause problems.

 

This inspired me to do the same. Just made up the following paper target stand. Should hold (stapled to the wood uprights) a standard 18" wide cardboard USPSA Target. Didn't glue everything together - again to make it more portable. Assembles in less than 30 seconds.

Here's the material list:

1 - 1"x 2"x 8' - cut in half and ripped to 1 1/8" - fits nice and snug inside the PVC. Could go taller if needed.
1 - 10' 1 1/4" PVC - Four 12" pieces (attached to Tee) and three 16" pieces (front piece & uprights)
2 - 1 1/4" 90 Elbows
2 - 1 1/4" Tees
2 - 1 1/4" End Caps

There was enough PVC remaining to add a cross piece on the back. I opted for end caps & no back piece - just to have one less piece to assemble. I'm sure adding it would be fine too. Just replace the end caps for elbows.

 

Anyone have any advice on a long range scope? Looking something above 20x. Along the lines of 6-24 5-25. Possibly FFP $1000-1200 range give or take some either way.

 

Great setup right there. I usually wedge cardboard backer into a dead tree, this is 800% classier.

Vortex PST's are a pretty goodbye, I use a Burris XTR 5 x 25 x 50 FFP and Effen love it!!! The Burris is about $1000,the vortex a little bit less, like $800, But the burris does have 90 minutes of travel where as the vortex has 65 minutes of travel.
Obviously, these are both tactical scopes, for a Hunting style,you would go a different direction

Theres a person on my long range forum also selling a
Leupold vxIII 8.5x25x50 LR scope, fine duplex with Alumina covers and Kenton Industries custom turrets for $850. that's a pretty good choice also

Very impressed with the updated sights. The front site is easily acquirable in all lighting scenarios I've tested it in thus far and the rear sights make a correct site picture very simple.

Also in love with the trigger. Clean and light break with a minuscule reset allow for some of the quickest follow up shots I'm able to produce.

 

Nice purchase! The P226 legion SAO has the best factory trigger out there IMO.

i just put those X-rays with a U rear sight on my p229, i am very pleased with them so far. Much faster target acquisition.

 

I've yet to come across a factory trigger to make me disagree. I'm glad to hear it! I'm seriously considering buying the X-ray sights for my P220 as well.

That's how I ended up with very similar guns. The P226 and P220 only real difference (Aside from the legion upgrades) is in grip width.
