Anyone Have Their Wisdom Teeth Removed???

i had all 4 of mine removed. the top 2 were fine, but the bottom two were impacted. they had to cut the gum, and then use a chisel thing to break them up then pick out the pieces. fortunately i was asleep. my top teeth holes never bothered me at all. not even a little. but the bottom, the ones they had to break were really bad. my entire jaw ached for a week and i couldn't stop packing the gauze in until the third day, they bled ALOT. but after that week i was fine. but for the first few days the pain was pretty bad

 

I let ( well because they forced me ) the Marine Corps pull mine. Just so you know, thats how they train dental students to pull teeth. So you can imagine how mine went. After botching the novacain (forgetting to use it), breaking one of my teeth, then ripping the roof of my mouth open requiring 16 stiches, they were out. Half day of bed rest, 2 tylenol, and a pudding and I was ready to go (according to them anyway). So if you are going to an oral surgeon and having it done right, should be a breeze. My sis just had hers out and it went really smooth. Best of luck!

 

take all the drugs they give you and ask for more, drink lots of rum but no smoking ANYTHING !!!! YOU WILL GET DRY SOCKET !!!! And that sucks alot !

lucky. The orthodontist said mine were forming in 6th grade when I got my braces on

 

I had all 4 removed, I kinda came to half way through and they were hitting a chissel with a hammer to break them down smaller to get them out...IDK if thats really what was happening but who know, i was sedated.
But yea I ate a bunch of frosties and ramen noodles.

EDIT: after reading through I guess they did use a chisel on them!!! and they had to cut through the gum on them to get them out, they put a single stitch over each empty tooth spot.

 

i had mine all 4 of mine removed probably 10 years ago. i got lucky and didn't have any pain what so ever. the worst part for me was tasting the gauss they put in you mouth to soak up the blood.

i had the same happens to me as well. i remember saying(or trying to at least) "hows it going." Couldnt feel any pain but could def feel them chiseling away.

 

Well guys I got all 4 of my wisdom teeth removed around 10:30 this morning. Got my meds and stuff. I have had a lot of bleeding and swelling. I love my new ice cream, pudding, and gatorade diet. Hopefully I'm good for Monday cause my hockey team made playoffs and need me so hopefully the swelling goes down.

I had mine taken out yesterday morning. no pain yet!

 

I used bags of tea to soak up the blood, and keep them clean, and just try and eat soft things; i lost a ton of weight after i got mine out, because i was limited as to what i would eat, but ice cream and yogurt is always good.

Thanks! I've been spitting blood in a plastic cup all day. I had gauze in until I got home from the doctors office

Funny story, I had mine taken out when I was 18. When I woke up in the recovery room I threw up from the anestesia. My dad was there to pick me up and he asked me how I felt. I said, "feels like Friday night." He just laughed, we still joke about it to this day.

I have to agree that the technology and technique is much better than when I had it done in 1987. Just follow the after care to the letter and you should not have any problems.

Do have someone drive you home though. Just a safety precaution.
