So, I bought my tires a while ago. But i was wondering, how come people are posting htat 285's are fitting on their 3" lifts?

I have a 3" revtek suspesnion lift and the 265's cleared but BARELY. The 285's would have rubbed badlly?

    anybody with a 1st gen taco that has 285's with a 3"?

I might be mistaken but a 285 is about a 33 inch tire.

(SOLD)4 Bilstein 5100's, OME885s, 2" Toytec AAL rear, 3" total lift, 285/70/R17 BFG MTX on stock rims, AIRAID cold air intake w/ secondary filter removed, CB radio w/ firestik shorty antenna, custom bumper and sliders from those guys rod and customs, URD stage 3 competition clutch, Tom Woods one piece double cardan drive shaft, and URD short throw shifter.
I run 285/70R17s on a 3" suspension lift (no spacers) and I rub on my control arms when I turn sharp. When I change those out it will be fine. I offroad it to and have no problem with them hitting my body.

Thats weird because my uncle has a 04 Tacoma and he has a 3 inch lift and hes running 285/75/16. He only rubs on the mud flaps at full turn hitting a bump. hes running BFG A/T's and I checked the specs on them and there at about 33 inches. How aggressive of a tire were you trying to run before?

I have that set up as do many, many others on TW. Trimming is necessary on the inner well plastic. Many even end up doing the body mount chop mod.

I am not positive about a first gen, but they are probably trimming a good bit. Also, are you running stock wheels? If so, you may need wheel spacers

I have 285/70/17's with Bilsteins at 2.5. Only rubbing I had was at the bottom of the front bumper cover. Trimmed that and no issues.

Ah ok, I didnt want to hack anything off of my truck just to clear the tires. They are 265 toyo m/t they are pretty agressive and have really thick tread.

    Those are 265's?

And my A/T's rub the fender a little, but I just had to trim verry little and take off my flaps. But That was with the Revtek spacer lift I use to have. With my Coilovers I cranked them up a 1/4" higher so I would have issues.

I have a 3'' lift that's to the max and I clear 33's just fine. But just like everyone else, they definitely will rub when you crank it on a turn. And I have a 1st Gen like you.
