    So I gathered up my tools today and decided to get busy. This is what I found.....



    The oil looked good but found some metal shavings on the drain plug magnet.


    Tied the driveshaft out of the way and shifted the elocker towards the center of the diff.



    Pulled the axles out and used a second jack to keep from messing up the seals. I soon found out that I needed more than just a deep well socket for a spacer as they were not out far enough to allow the diff to come out.



    In this pic I swapped the socket for a 3 3/4in x 1in electrical conduit that I cut to size. This worked perfect and I was able to remove third member at that point.

    Make sure you clean out that housing REALLY well. There's bound to be a TON of metal stuck to the sides I'm sure.

    I think it is because both the ring and pinon were broken. The rotation of the two gears being of different sizes would cause the inconsistent popping IMO

    Doing it this way, ECGS will have everything setup and it really becomes a plug n play style swap. Plus it allows me to take advantage of a full warranty on the differentials as they will be doing the regearing and the install of the ARB. I also save on shipping as you are granted access to their discount.
    After more research, it was required on all '04 and older Tacomas. The new Tacos do not need it so I opted out.
