Got some stuff done on the truck this weekend to get it back together. Finally settled on the roof rack to mount my TREDS now. So I made some mounts.


And with that addition I just barely squeeze into the garage now.

 

Got the HAM radio installed today. It was dark so I didn't get finished pics. Maybe tomorrow.

 

What radio did you decide on??

 

Yaesu 7900R dual band radio. So far its great listening. LoOKs like there will be a test offered 4/1/17 at the LARCFest. I am gonna try to take the test then.

I need to head down to your place and see the new setup soon! Sounds like the event today turned out nice as well. I need to start studying again in order to try and catch the 4/1 testing!

 

dowload the Ham Test app for android. I literally did NO studying, just took the test over and over until I could pass it 10 times in a row without a failure. only knock I have is I saw 2 or 3 questions on the test that weren't on the app, but still only got 2 wrong (if I remember correctly)

 

Yeah. I have the app and I have been reviewing it.

 

So my HAM antenna is too rigid and tall to fit in the garage. So I picked up a cheap stubbie antenna for around the city, listening to weather, and once I am licensed I can use it with repeaters. Oh and it is good for FRS too.

 

Is that Mag mounted?

Yes. It's a mag mount for a 24" Tram that I will run up there on trips or over long distances.

Yeap. I need to get on their site and see if I need to register for the test.

Ive been studying the app for HAM testing i need to remember to study more. ill probably end up taking a test closer to the ranch / littleton area. Your taking it april 1st up in boulder because why again?
