Does anyone have feedback on front mud flaps protecting the paint from rock chips on an OR 4x4? I have the factory oval nerf bars which might give some protection...

I have mud flaps on my OR 4x4 in combination with the flat plastic steps that came from the dealership. It seems to have kept the stone chips away.

I noticed a handful of chips from the first month I had the truck (no mud guards, and I drive a lot of gravel roads). Since I've added them (6 weeks or so) I cannot find any additional chips. They definitely serve their purpose, and I think they look good too.

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
If you drive on gravel roads a lot, they will definitely help. On paved roads I don't think it really maters.

Better to have than to have not IMO, although there maybe a minuscule mpg penalty. But I'm not sure, I don't have any concrete data on that.
It's a crying shame though, as they used to be standard on any SR5+ Toyota models, not no more :/

    Cheers!

Many remove them as they will often get ripped off off-roading, especially with larger tires.

If that's not a risk for you, you might post a WTB in the 3gen market forum and find a good deal.

Does anyone know which after market mudflaps are closest to the ones found one the 1st gen tacomas? I know rokblokz is one of them, any others that you guys can recommend?

Not quite sure why toyota discontinued those and put the plastic ones on.

RokBlokz are not as flexible as the mud flaps on the 1st Gen Tacomas, but they will bend and not tear off

Plasticolor are flexible and way cheaper than rokblokz. Search the forum for Plasticolor and you'll see some threads on them with plenty of feedback.

    Good looking truck.

Did you get the bumpers painted at the factory or after market?

One reason I'm leaning toward the sport is the matching paint, but your OR looks great.

The OR comes with paint matched bumpers if you get the P&T package

The RokBlokz are pre-drilled and they supply the stainless mounting hardware, took 10 minutes to install.
It took some work but the tires did rub with the OEM mud flaps but not with the RokBlokz.
