My company does some really dumb shit with their 'in-house' software.

For example, if you want to login to the product I work on you go to a web page, put your username/password in, login. Easy.. My company wanted us to integrate with their software. Sure.

Now if you want to login you have to do the following.

Go to a web page and pick your district
Wait for the pop up to load, login
Wait for the next page to load, login again
    Click on "Launch app"
    Wait for pop-up
    Login again....

3 fucking logins and it actually takes 9 clicks now to start the app. Every, fucking, time you want to login you have to do it 3 times. WTF?!?!

I dont get IT/tech shit sometimes...

yesterday my password expired at work. I went to use the change password program they implemented into our network (since we dont have on site IT) and we cant use the normal change password method in Windows.. followed the steps, successfully changed password, then tried to log in, and it said I was locked out of the account... this happened on 4 PC's that I needed to use to get work done.

I go to V's Barbershop and have never gotten a haircut I didn't like. They'll charge you though for every little thing including lining your beard up etc. Only made that mistake once.

Same thing happens with me as well. I get locked out of my account ever 30 days (which is when our passwords expire now which is a JOKE). If I don't resolve it quick then my phone locks out, my other work PC locks out, etc, etc...

:( more often than not, it's companies like mine that implement these types of things. Now, if you were a company that had to be PCI compliant, that's a whole different ball of wax, dual factor authentication, tokenization and password changes every 15 to 30 days.....

I am not very IT savvy but question, when they do this they know what my old password is so I can't repeat it, which means they are saving all of my old passwords somewhere?!? That doesn't sound safe lol

For our servers we are PCI compliant. My app is designed for 3rd graders up to Seniors in HS. Having a 3rd grader login 3 different times is not going to work out very well.

Yes, the last 24 (2 years) passwords are remembered at my job. People can't view them as they are encrypted but the servers know what's being entered in and matches that. It's actually a really dumb way to handle it because people write down their passwords more often if they have to change them ever 30 days.

I'm not sure who does our assessment. The senior engineer deals with that.

Sounds about right. We typically work with engineers or some of the "C" levels.

I just keep adding a special character, I just have to remember how many. Pretty soon I will have 20 "!" at the end

I know what you mean. With ours as well if you use something common it picks up on it. So if you always added ! at the end, it won't let you do it on the next password. Due to this I'm making some of the weakest passwords I've ever used in my life.

Can't repeat any letter, number, or special character. So Password!! fails due to double S's and double !'s.
