Because you don't 'need' much of anything to "overland" beside a 4x4 truck/SUV, maybe an extra batter and inverter, and a tent.

Well I do agree with that much that the guy is retarded. I used to fucking backpack. I wasn't strapping batteries and fucking solar panels or fridges on my back lmao.

And the trucks pretty built but it took a while of research to figure out what was right for us and what we really needed.

The guy is going on and asking a bunch of strangers what he should get without saying much besides that he's "overlanding alaska" and he needs to survive lol.

Same. Boy Scouts taught me a TON!

Sometimes the motto of "Be Prepared" didn't always need heeded so closely. When you're in the woods, 40 miles away from your vehicle let alone civilization, you're lucky to bring more than 3 t-shirts lol!

Perhaps he should learn about off-roading first to figure out what he needs before needlessly buying shit. Taking the right line and experience goes a lot further than crawl control and lockers.

No overlander worth his shit would be caught dead without a snorkel FFS.

    Check Out My Builds
People just buy shit because that's what everyone else is doing. People need to sit back and think about their needs for their rigs.

Am I actually going to use a fridge, fuck no that's what my cooler is for plus it serves as a seat. People need to get out and use their rigs first. I've never been in a situation where I've needed a front locker. So as of right now I'll never buy one

I agree. The husband is trying to convince me about bumpers and a snorkel. I told him the day we rip off the stock bumpers is the day we get new ones. The snorkel is just meh. We literally never go places that there's massive dust or crazy water.

Guy is only thinking about problems with his mods. Nothing about if something goes wrong with the suspension or engine.
