Does anyone know what Fox 2.5 res. coilovers are set at when they get sent out to the customer? I installed them on my 07 Taco WITHOUT measuring the stock height. So they are no installed and before I start cranking with the spanner, I wanna see if anyone who is not as dumb as me has that height. Thanks. :help:

Yup, 2" of lift is about what I got with regular 2.5" IFP, no reservoirs.

I checked last week. I was debating between the 2.0's and 2.5's. Interestingly enough they both come set to the same preset height from the factory.

Correct, just bolted them on without any initial adjustment. Not sure how you can know exactly how much to do and even if you try to guess you're probably going to have to tweak it anyway to get the truck level side-to-side. I have about half a dozen more turns on the driver's side, for example.

I gotcha....I'll just have to play with it then. I just don't wanna over extend them past 3". I'm going up to 285 tire and just wanna make sure it fits. I know I'm gonna have to do some pretty good trimming, just trying to lookout for the new coilovers.

I think it was like 8 (or maybe it was 4) turns of the top ring equated to 1" of lift. I could be wrong, Allpro can quote the number on that too (and fox, if you call them).

I would also suggest you dont turn those while installed on the truck. the design doesnt have 2 rings now, just one so you have to loosen it to turn the ring...too much "loose" and that spring will send the ring into the wheel well. Not saying its impossible to do installed on the truck, as im sure ppl here have done it...but its not smart.

You could call FOX or search, but I think it's something like 8 turns per inch normally. There is also some ratio of spring height increase to ride height, like 1" on the collar equals 2" of lift.

I adjusted mine on the truck. You have to jack it up to get the wheels off the ground, there's definitely no way you're going to turn the collar with weight on it. But I don't see how having the wheels hanging in space is any worse than doing it on the bench. That is unless you actually use a spring compressor. The coils are going to put pressure on the collar either way.

8 threads showing looks to be 1". So if they come in at 2", then this pic I took showing 16 threads is right at 2".
Dave and Jeremy, you were on it! Thanks for your help guys. Now hopefully I can go another .75" without taking them off. 20170228_144549.jpg

are you able to adjust with spanner? mine only came with the one ring and can't be adjuster according to fox without a spring compressor

I'm on my way home. Gonna take some measurements and see what I got. I thought you just slightly loosen the ring allen screw, but not all the way, and turn? I'll dig up the papers and see about adjustments before anything.

Like I said, I've done mine on the truck with it jacked up (twice actually). I have a clamshell spring compressor and the diameter of the coil wire and the space between coils made it useless, won't fit in there. So if you do it what is I guess the right way you need to plan to install and remove the coil overs a couple of times and use a shop quality wall-mounted compressor.

FWIW, my understanding is that you can't adjust aluminum body shocks without compressing the springs but that steel bodies may?!? be OK. Do not hold me to that and it's certainly not beyond likely that I just cheated catastrophe. :)

I used a phillips head screwdriver to stick in one of hole to turn the ring. but I also had it on a table mounted spring compressor with 3 claws so once the spring was compressed, it made easy work to loosen the ring, spin it, and tighten it back down.
