Checked oil for first time and the dip stick won't go all the way back in. I have twisted and turned different directions with out luck. 2017 Tacoma. Any suggestions?

The dealership said that the seal was out of alignment from the factory and stopping the dip stick from going back properly. Suppose to be fixed now.

Must be another reason they eliminated transmission dipsticks. To reduce warranty work.

Always wear protection when inserting your dipstick. Be sure to keep your Taco clean and pH-balanced.

Grab a rag, insert the dipstick as far as it can go, back it out a bit and rotate back and forth a bit and guide the damn thing back in with the rag at the same time. It just needs some persuasion to get past the bends in the tube. There's no seal down there when the last remaining few inches of the dipstick are sticking out ( the difficult portion). The seal is under the dipstick handle itself.

Well, that may be true, but I worked at it for a long time twisting it at different angles without success. At the dealership, the service manger had no luck. The mechanic was unable to get it in. They did a work order and took it back in the shop. An hour and a half the came out and said that "the seal was out of alignment from the factory."
