My 2015 one was cheap too, surprised when my Ford book was nicer than the Toyota one

Yes, just cut it off and there were only two wires. Hardest part was finding good location for the lights. I'll try to get pictures when it stops raining. Used an add-a-circuit for the hot wire (on the fuse for the cig-lighter), and a ring terminal on the nut that mounts the fuse box for the ground. There was just enough room between the floor and console to push through 2 of the light bars.

Before I did any cutting I played with finding the best location and to make sure there was enough wire length for what I wanted. I wanted to lighting on either side as equal as possible.

3-4 coats later, this is how it turned out
At first I dipped the emblem black, but personally, I thought it looked tacky, so I went with the chrome-black-chrome combo. Looks like an SR grille :D:mudding:

If you look at the two round pieces you have to clip together, there is an oval in the middle and a round section in the middle and then the overall diameter of the clip. If you size your hole with the round section in the middle and not the oval it should snap together with no problems. I made the mistake of cutting out just the oval and had to cut just a little bit more to make it clip together. The screws pretty much self tap after you get the mat aligned and just lift the mat up to screw them in. I did one screw at a time after I clipped both rings together.

Didn't mod the truck, but did buy some good trail reference guides. Planning on hitting as many green and blue trails this summer as possible!

I have both those from taking my 2 month old truck up there last year. I didnt know anything about the areas and they helped me find some nice easy trails to have some fun learning about my truck on.
