I didn't even know they made these. I could either go with that land yacht, or a single cab short bed, but I wouldn't really want anything in between in the Tundra realm. With the longer wheel base, I'll bet it pulls trailers nicely.

If I were in a position where I HAD to have an 8 foot long bed, I think I would just go find a nice used F-350 Crew Cab with the 7.3L.
That way I can at least justify to myself that the garbage gas mileage is worth having since the truck can pull whatever I please.

    8ft is requirement

I haven't looked at the f350. Those in dually and 4 wheels in the back is almost $84,000

Tundra 8 ft is about $33,000

This truck needs to be a regular cab for it to look right, dimensionally.

Shrug. Your truck. Doesn't matter what I think it looks like. Even if I do think it looks wrong, lol.

How much are used ones? Are Ford 7.3 reliable like tundra ?

What's the benefit of used Ford vs new tundra ?

I have a ram 2500 crew cab long bed and I think it rides better than a 6.5' bed hd truck. The extra wheelbase seems to balance the truck better considering the Cummins is so much weight up front.

You will not spend anything close to 84k for a used one. Ford doesn't make the 7.3L anymore. That motor is a beast and I don't know a single person who has a complaint about it. Do some research. Those things are bad ass.

    Seems like maintenance is key
    http://www.powerstroke.org/forum/99...le-7-3-a.html#/topics/128326?page=4&_k=y8mzuf

If previous owner did lot of towing etc people have had tranny issues with them

Hard to compare new tundra with a used truck ...

But I will take your advice and join a Ford forum and ask there

Ford never actually made the 7.3, it was made for them under contract (much like Cummins & Dodge) by International, and then by Navistar. Definitely one of the more reliable and long-lived engines ever made, right up there with the 5.9 Cummins. But, they haven't been available since the early 2000's (2002 or 2003, I think), and since they were intended for work trucks and work trucks tend to get beat on, finding examples in good condition is getting more difficult. :notsure:

If we are pointing out bad writing, you forgot the capital I and the period at the end.

Oh if the newest one is 2003, that won't work for me. I am not looking for that old of a truck.
