I figured @smitty99 just had 100 different CR accounts so he could skew the numbers. ;)

I wouldn't panic just yet - Dodge is often on the "worst buy" lists, and the one I'm still driving has 434,000 miles and only been on a hook twice - once for injection pump, and once for clutch. And I intend to keep driving it, just know that it won't last forever. New truck is relaxing in the garage until the car melt that they are spreading on the roads is done for the winter.

For all those saying "Man it's a good thing I got a 2017 instead of a 2016 for this reason" You do realize they are the EXACT same truck right?...

... A car is a car, a truck is a truck, an SUV is an SUV, etc, they have specific features that make them different. It could "technically" i guess be a car, but by definition, trucks are "a large, heavy motor vehicle used for transporting goods, materials, or troops." We carry motherfucking troops, not people!

    Tyler,

You read my post incorrectly. I was sharing that the 2016 Tacoma was the worst used car and it was a DO NOT BUY list. I was saying my 16 was problem free (while I had it). I didn't own it long enough to know if it was a good or bad example.

I respect CR, as they have lots more data at hand to make an analysis and many people in this world buy things based on CR :)

yes, Kelly Blue Book is the Industry Standard(Car Dealers,Auto Insurance,Private sellers) in appraising value to used cars, nobody uses Consumer Reports to apply a monetary value to a used vechicle.

I understand the difference between CR and KBB.

My question was (I don't have the answer and neither do you), whether this CR "do not buy list" will affect KBB values in the future. Of course we don't have crystal balls.

what ever Consumer reports says doesn't hold any merit to how much a 2016 Tacoma resale value is, they will use KBB to appraise value to it, and as you see they are 2016/17 rated best in resale in mid size trucks, KBB is an industry standard for many years. It really doesn't mater what Consumer reports or any skewed opinions might be, when selling a 2016 Tacoma, KBB will be used to appraise what its value is.

    Thank you.

When I sold my 16, I got top dollar. I have no doubt if I sell my 17 PRO today, I would get top dollar. So just to be clear you are saying that CR putting it on a "do not buy list," has no impact on resale value moving forward as less and less people who read CR will want the 2016 models??

Just saying, The Jeep Wrangler has always been known to have one of the worst reliability ratings of all time but it's also one of the most sought after vehicles and always makes top ten resale value. So the point of this short story is reliability does not equal resale value.

prove me wrong, go sell your 2017 TRD and use the KBB value and see what you get

Just like any consumer, there are multiple sources to get information from and the internet will never give you a real answer. However if CR did have any kind of impact on the market for the vehicle, it would only impact those who haven't driven one or already have a bias towards Toyota. I HATED F-150s before I bit the bullet and leased an ecoboost, even with the questionable or unfavorable articles. I personally enjoyed it and if Tacoma didn't exist I would be torn between Tundra and the F series.

I never said you are wrong. I am not sure why you are getting defensive. I asked you a question, to clarify that I understood.

I already said I would get top dollar for my 17 PRO above. Not sure what you are being like this

I was looking for a discussion with you.

    Good day.
