Well the offer stands. I'd be glad to help out if you wanted to hold these up to your truck and see what's different if it'll help anything at all. Whenever I get them.

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
    You can't race a 4-banger in a truck. So it's not racism.

I beg to differ. You can race a 4 banger in a truck. It's just that no one else knows you're racing

well it does just not very well rt now just needs a little work= I found the miss I had 3-4 plug wires melted to the headers. That'll do it. So, new plug wires w'nomex boots, re seal the trans pan, and fix a tail light and a little cleaning and should be good

Any of you guys know anything about CB radios? Buddy of mine just picked up a Cobra 75 and a 2' Firestik No Ground-plane antenna. I'm kind of digging it, and I'll probably buy the same radio, but I'm wondering if I should bump up to a longer antenna. And where to mount it. With it that short, it'll never get above the cab no matter where I mount it. I kind of want to put it on the front bumper because it'll probably be most out of the way there. Honestly, it's just going to be mainly for trail riding (and road trip) communication so we don't have to either grab the cell phone or jump out and run to the other's truck.

Can't say I know much specifically about CBs, but from all the installs I've seen posted on here, it seems like most people go 3' or 4'. I haven't noticed any rhyme or reason for why people go with one or the other. I think it's just whatever they buy. Another mounting option would be the back of the truck. There's at least one guy in the B/S/T forums selling antenna mounts that mount in the bed to existing bolts and comes out between the tail light and tailgate. That's the way I would end up mounting an antenna if I ever get a CB.

They also make brackets that attach to the bed rails

Yeah, I've seen those. I do a lot of beach fishing out of the back of my truck and I know I'm going to end up snagging it with myself or a pole and get mad. My other thought was making a little bracket to mount it in the track behind the cab, but I've toyed around with the idea of a soft topper, so that might end up happening and I'd have to relocate and reroute the cable.

Do you have ditch light brackets yet? I think it's CBI that makes the brackets for 2 lights just install 1 light and your antena in the other hole

That was another thought. I know I get a little radio interference with my pods on the front bumper, so I was worried about that. But I also grounded through the fender ground by the battery, so if I ground them to the frame that may go away. It's on my to do list.

Ask first before you go sticking things in the other hole. They tend to get mad.:rofl::rofl:

I just pulled the Cobra 75 WXST out of my Tundra and installed it in the Taco. I used a hood bracket for a T100 for the antenna. That bracket fit the Tundra pretty well, and it fits the Taco pretty well too. Oh, Make sure it is spring mounted, it's easier on the antenna as your bouncing it off tree limbs. The antenna is a 2 (maybe 3, I don't remember) foot just because I was always in the woods with a prior (and longer antenna) that hit EVERY F'N tree limb - and the noise just got irritating. The range is good enough for trail rides and some freeway conversation.

How do you like the Cobra 75 WX ST? That's the radio I've always thought about getting if I ever do a CB.
