Alright I'll try that if there aren't any vacuum leaks. I guess regardless it wouldn't be a bad thing to do as in the 3 years I've had the truck I have yet to ever do it.

That seems high for idle. Mine sits around 7500 when warm.

Yeah I always thought it seemed kinda high but it runs fine once it's warm and idles there so didn't really want to (or even know how to) adjust it.

Finally got the hood struts done. These should've been factory. Didn't go the Redline route though.

I think I know where that is. New SoL? Used to hit their downtown location quite a bit. Cheers, mate.

Very nice! I went Redline, but regardless it's a much-appreciated mod. As for factory lol yeah ok bud. Even 3rd gens still have a hood prop. Ridiculous that they still refuse to put struts or a system like they had in my LeBaron. This is what they looked like. Worked great.
    s-l225.jpg

Those, struts, or some other method of keeping it open on its own should be standard in every vehicle by now.

Those do work the best and never fail unlike struts. Taco just doesn't have much room for them.

I had my wheels and tires balanced today. KO2s took more lead than than a gun club in a looting riot to get zeroed out but whatever at least it rides smooth at 75 again.

Yeah I really like that system. Never seen it on another vehicle, so it must be not common. But I would take that over anything else. It's borderline failproof and it doesn't get in the way at all, like struts or a prop can.

I am pretty sure I need (have needed) to get my tires rebalanced. And I think I am slightly out of alignment. Damn Winter. I should really get those done.

Right. SoL = Streets of London. I was trying to be discrete. Didn't want to give away your position.

Very common in old Chrysler and Chevy products. My buddies jeep has them. Design seems to be fool proof other than closing force which on old chevy trucks could be the reason you bend your hood in half.

My '06 Tundra had them. Why not Tacoma?

I thought about Redline. Then I realized there's nothing proprietary about what they offer. Maybe the angled bracket for the hood, but that's solved with a vise. The struts are manufactured by someone else. A pair of Suspa 60# for $22 and four brackets for $15. Rivets are pennies.

Redline just opened a GB on here today, 25% off. Ordered a set today.

Seems like you still made out better price-wise.

Ah I guess I forgot about that. It definitely does require more force to close it than any other system. While it is a legitimate downside, I think the system is still great, all things considered.

IDK it's a mystery to us all.

I got my Redline's when there was a group buy or some other significant sale. So they weren't too steep. But you are still right. Their price is high for what it is. Nonetheless, it is (or should be lol) a one time purchase, and I didn't mind spending what I spent for ones reviewed well by others.
