Took the truck in last Friday and just got it back today with this written explanation. Basically it sucks to be me and was told to call Toyota which I did. Now I'm supposed to get a call from a "Case Manager" 6 mo old, 6k miles and 41k later this is fricken wonderful.

    It sucks.

There's a lot of jokes about "characteristic of the vehicle," and they're all true.

Toyota is great, but them fucking you in the ass doesn't hurt any less than the horse they rode in on.

Hopefully after you get a Case Manager then the issues will get fixed instead of getting brushed off.

Seems clearly documented. :notsure: Shop foreman test drove your vehicle and another new Taco on the lot, transmission behavior felt the same. Dealer verified you had the latest ECM software and cleared the memory. Not sure what else you expected the dealer to do, come up with a new shift logic for you on the spot?

    Good ol Toyota service
Technically there IS a problem but as usual it's " normal"
Start a paper trail and get in contact with Toyota but be nice. The people answering the phones are just a call center and the case managers get bitched at all day...really it's not their fault. At the same time I haven't really heard of a case manager actually resolving a problem but best of luck to you.
Note: You get more done by being firm but polite rather than losing your shit.:goingcrazy:

Interesting... I also feel this "clunk" on the downshift with my '16 AT V6. My truck has received all of the TSB updates as well and it still persists. Noticed that it is most common in the morning (perhaps due to a colder engine), I do start my truck and let it idle for 5 minutes or so before I drive it every morning, so its not as if my engine is running stone-cold.

My 2016 started the trailer hitching when coming to a stop. But it only started after doing the transmission update, for not shifting up when the cruise control was on...

Trailer Hitching: The vehicle will exhibit the sensation of a trailer on the back of the vehicle. And cause a clunk feel or noise when coming to a stop.

I don't have issue with their attempt to fix my vehicle nor did I expect "new shift Logic" perhaps I'm a nieve consumer with an expectation to enjoy a new vehicle without this sort of problem in the first place. Glad you're having good luck with your truck
