brakes feel like they are being applied while driving

any steps to solution,since i`m in a remote area?

 

are the brakes applied ,one wheel or all wheels?

 

all four,i think i have a problem with the brake diaphram,but don`t hear any air leaks,would moister be a problem,since i`m in the arctic?or just need replacing,when i let it idle for a while,the brakes or set,when i put it in drive.

 

How do you know the brakes are being applied while driving?

 

cause i can feel it while i`m driving,it comes to a slow stop when i put it in nuetral

 

Have you had any brake work done? Do you have a lift ??

How's your ebrake work? If you yank on the ebrake handle, how many clicks do you get? Is it stiff to yank?

The first thing I would check is your ebrake. Make sure the ebrake isn't engaged or partially engaged. Check the cable to make sure its not hung up and the entire system is working (engaging and fully disengaging). If the ebrake cable/system is hung up, that will cause your drum brakes to drag.

Take your rear wheels off and the drums off and check inside....make sure everything is clean in there. Put the drums back on...... (leave the wheels off) and have someone engage & disengage the ebrake while you try to turn the drums by hand (while disengaged). You shouldn't feel any resistance or a very very slight resistance....

My co-worker, as I am typing, is getting his 2002 Taco e-brake system fixed by the help of my boss. Where the e-brake goes into the back of the hubs corrodes in time and freezes up and won't fully release. He bought all new parts from the local dealer (about $200 for them all) and they are changing them out. The boot that protects the mechanism that goes into the hub allows salt and mud inside to corode them. His symptoms were the same as yours, it felt like the brakes were pressed while driving down the road. The same thing happened to my 95 Taco. New parts are your best fix for this.

 

Overfilled master cylinder resevoir can cause this as well.
