    Hi all,

Just upgraded to a '07 tacoma from a '02, and so moving into this part of the forum. Found a '07 in great shape, only 160k miles on it, minimal rust, everything checks out.

Some minor cosmetic stuff I want to upgrade. Both headlights and taillights are faded and yellowing. I've ordered new taillights that are close to OEM, but still haven't found good headlight replacements. Any suggestions? I just read the headlights thread in here and it seems that most AM headlights are crap.

I also am thinking to upgrade the rims (or maybe just getting rim caps would improve the looks a lot?) and will also have to get new tires at some point.

    Thanks..

    Now for tires.

Been trying to read up on tire threads in here and have come down to BFG A/T K02's vs. nitto dura grapplers. I do about 80% highway driving.

    Leaning towards the latter...

Then buy hwy tires and put on your new wheels. Michelin makes some good ones. IIRC they are Defenders........ Costco has a sale on right now.

Use your old wheels to mount some type of offroad tire for those planned trips.

Just get some caps for the wheels and they'll look way better. I'm looking at getting the SCS Ray10's when they re-stock in Matte Gunmetal. Great looking wheel at a great price, actually half the price of the tires I'll be putting on them .

I read if you just re-seal the aftermarket headlights they sell on Amazon they work great. I am in the middle of a retrofit and I bought some headlight assemblies on amazon to build them. My only complaint is that they seem to have melted the tabs where the turn signal sense snaps into the housing so you can't take them off, which meant I had to try to tape them up when I blacked-out all the chrome.

Thanks everyone for the welcome and for the advices.

16Tacos, I did think about just going with caps, but as you can see those rims are dotted with rust which is only going to grow- there is plenty on the inside of those rims.

So I'll probably go with new or near-new rims. No sense running expensive tires on rusty rims.

Will have to look into using silicone to seal AM headlights.. is there a thread in here somewhere?

You can spare yourself the trouble with trying to bandaid bad headlight seals with silicon by buying CAPA certified aftermarket headlights. They will cost a little more but they meet OEM specs, unlike generic aftermarket.

Good advise but I would still take the time to seal any aftermarket headlight. It does not take much time and is good insurance in my opinion.

80% highway driving is still just 80%, I will be doing a little offroading, especially when I help my dad get firewood. I don't want to go with pure highway tires.

Jay, how long have you had yours? Did you have any trouble with aligning the headlights?

I have had them for a year or so. The headlight aligned fine but the output is a little less than OEM. Not horrible though.

That is a foot rest. To fix I would say you need to order a new one or hit up a local junk yard.
