I'll chime in and tell you I like it too. I've got the KB VOODOO HiRise crossbars and it's used for bikes and lumber so far. I can tell you they're solid. I won't likely ever be able to test them to full capacity, but a temporary, easily removable tent setup like this would be perfect on there! Thanks for posting this thread!

I do not have a write up on the bed slide but I can answer any questions and take some pictures for you. I was looking for cheap and simple when making mine. So I bought a full sheet of 3/4 pressure treated plywood from home depot and had them rough cut a few of the pieces for me while I was there. This saved me some time and as you can see I have the short bed so this made it easier to load. For the sliding portion I ended up using rollers I found from harbor freight. I didn't want the slider taking up a lot of height so I was looking for a solution that kept it low. I made a simply from for the sliding part of the bed slide using 1x4's and plywood strips from one side to the other for strength and also to hold the rollers. I attached the rollers by drilling out holes in the plywood big enough for the roller to stick out just above the plywood. The slide itself is just a piece of plywood with a 1x4 attached to the end of it. I then used a couple of pieces of aluminum L strips from HD to use as stoppers so the slide doesn't come all the way out. I then bolted the slider frame through the bed so it doesn't move. Below are a few pictures. I know I didn't give a ton of details but I can give more if you want them.

The puppy is an American black lab named Roxy and she is about 12 weeks old. She has been my buddy while I have been working on this project. Here are a couple of more pics!

Perfect. I will add the VooDoo Highrise bars as my tent mount. I like this product from Voodoo because I still want to use my tonneau cover.

 

Yeah, I ordered two bars and one has the tamper proof fasteners (front bar) and the rear has the quick release knobs. Front bar stays on 90% of the time.
I went this route because I wanted to be able to still use the tonneau's folding ability to access and load some things that fit in the bed with the rear cross bar removed ( with the uprights remaining in place) , which is 75% of the time. This KB VOODOO option is great because it doesn't take much space to store or setup! I'll grab a pic later and update so you'll get a better idea.

@Blktre @WNYTACO , post #74 updated with pics of it mounted and cover unfolded. It only allows for one partition to fold over. If you fold the second one over, it will just sit on the front bar, unless you remove it. I've not found a need where I had to do that yet, I just keep the tamper proof allen wrench with me in case I do need to remove it.

If you have the tent on it, depending how far rearward the last bar is, you're going to have limited opening of last cover. If you end up with a sliding bed platform, you're golden!

With my setup I can still flip the first partition over with the bar attached but it obviously wouldn't lay flat on the second partition. In post #35 you can sort of see from one of the pictures that I have the first partition flipped up to show the modified foot I made. Of course like you stated especially with the short bed I lose that functionality when the tent is on but for me that is okay. I do have my mounts in the front almost all of the way forward and that leaves the back mounts ending about 6 or 7 inches from the end of the bed. The cot I have is around 53" wide.
