I called nitro and they said no one makes a 4.56 for 16/17's

I know a lot of 2nd gen guys are running around with 4.56.

If you have regeared. Can you please give some feed back on your Manufacturer and which gears you went with.

Right now I am only coming up with Nitro in a 4.88

according to arb the rear end is not the same in the 8" or 8.75" to the 2nd Generations.

The front gears however are the same.

Given the 8" third gen rear uses the RD132, same locker used in the 95 and older pickups, makes me wonder if the V6 carrier gears will work in the new 8" as well

like i said ARB uses same locker in these as 95 and older pickups..

maybe the v6 gears of the golden days would work.

I know for the 8.75" rear, the only gears available are that nitro 4.88s. I don't know enough about the 8" rear to know if it's actually different from the 2nd gen gearset.

4.88's are in and they are really nice so far. I feel like its a normal truck. Its not a race car, it doesnt make it feel like its fast or anything but the sluggishness is gone.. very responsive and more low end power... just what I wanted.

Did your truck have the differential noise before the gears?

If so, did the gears eliminate it?

Also, if you wouldn't mind could you post a ballpark cost for gears and install for
    both axles?

I would also imagine that doing the front gears would be the prime opportunity to replace the ECBS while you're in there.

    Thanks!

My rear end noise went away with the new gears.

A reasonable price for Nitro 4.88s installed with master kits is $2k-2500.

Yes, it's a great time to replace the front diff bearing, or do like I did and replace the front carrier with an ARB air locker and totally eliminate the bearing!

Im not sure about the noise. I have a random noise from the back end that could be to do with the drive shaft or a wheel baring. The noise I am hearing is still there.

The good news is the truck drives well after the regear. I also had front and rear lockers put in.

The labor was 1750 plus parts. I had a master kit bought for 1150 from nitro along with the lockers and compressor which were extra .

the labor was high on my job because of doing the lockers as well.
