PCS orders can't take the truck

so I just recently received an assignment notification to Okinawa Japan. Unfortunately I can't take the truck due to Japan's import and vehicle laws. Pretty bummed because I haven't even owned it for a year yet!

x3 ....OP is Military, thought they had special exemptions to take their personal vehicles. Not sure how that works in Japan though.

 

You can put your truck into storage that the military will pay for. I did this with my car when I PCS'd to Okinawa. You're going to love Japan. Easily one of the best assignments yet! Hit me up if you have any questions.

 

Okinawa is awesome. You can buy a Toyota Surf (4runner) for super cheap over there. Enjoy your year round warm weather and beaches

Stay away from Gate 2 and the banana show - former 1st group guy here.

 

DO NOT put it in Govvy storage (too many times it just ends in tears). Those that had a terrible experience outnumber those that didn't. Just sell it and be done.
Once you get to Oki you won't want to come back and you will need some $$ to rock some JDM rides you would otherwise never enjoy. Don't bother with a Hilux or Surf, go right for a Mitsubishi Delica!
Make sure to take a dive/snorkle trip to the Keramas Is.
Enjoy a cool Orion and some CoCos curry.
