I noticed right after I got my pro comp 3" lift and 285/75/17 rims and tires my steering wheel would start to shake after going 40mph. Any idea what it could be that's causing it? It never did that before the lift.

Alignment and/or balance and/or lug nut torque and/or you're not used to how 285s drive.

Could be a lot of things. I had vibes after my lift and it was a combination of driveshaft angle (I needed a 3 deg shim and a CB flip) and unrotated tires. After I did these things, it stopped.

Here is what I would do:
    1. Get an alignment if you havent already.
    2. Check all suspension torques.
    3. Rotate your tires
    4. Learn how to measure driveline angles and fix anything that is off by using shims, dropping CB or flipping the CB - whatever combo you need to get things running smoothly.

Sooner or later you will track it down and fix it. There is always a cause to vibes....keep searching and you can fix it.

I did alignment after I got the lift but I put the new rims and tires on after and didn't get alignment after that so maybe I'll try that's first. I took it in twice and they rebalanced my front tires both times and it still shook. 4 wheel never said anything about needed to do alignment again but they said my front tie rod shins had a little play. I did change out my UCA's would that matter and play a factor into why the sudden shakes?
Also I've never had a lofted vehicle before so does 285's normally ride rough?

Would not be the first time, for a tire to have a defect and not be balance able. Probably rare but it happens...

Do you have your stock tires and wheels? Maybe try them on, see if shakes dissappear...

Make sure the shop doing the balancing is using a hub centric adapter.

What's the center bore of your new wheels? If larger than the 106mm you might just need a hub centric ring adapter.

You should be good on alignment IMHO and unless the tires are defective, they should ride fine. Often times vibes are due to the drivesshaft not having the proper angles. I would look into that.

I meant lug centric, not hub centric.

Hey guys so I changed my UCA's to after market ones and still having the same issue. Moved from tires to the rear and nothing changed. I put back my stocks and now the shaking doesn't happen. Could something be wrong with my after market wheels or something like my rack bushings? I can't figure it out and I don't want to spend more money and nothing happens.

Yes you need rings like those. They fill the gap and hopefully eliminate any wobble.
