They won't cover anything that your modification directly affects. So if your engine blew up, they probably want to cover it. If your drive shaft snaps in half, they can probably argue that is not designed for the power. If your suspension sales they would have to cover that because the supercharger has nothing to do with the suspension

They were talking about increased boost, so I'm thinking maybe they put a smaller pulley on there

I would to actually but I can look up the vin # at the Toyota site and it does show where the supercharger was installed but says nothing about the clutch. He might have had it done by a private mechanic shop or something.

Nothing in the following statement would lead the common person to believe their warranty would be voided!

    http://www.trdusa.com/parts-detail....odels=Tacoma&categories=all&subcategories=all
    • Warranty is the same as other TRD powertrain components: 12 months or 12,000 miles or the balance of the 5 year/60,000 new car powertrain warranty, whichever is greater, when installed by an authorized Toyota dealer. Superchargers installed by anyone other than an authorized Toyota dealer are warranted for 12 months or 12,000 miles.

Look through the inspection cover, at bottom of trans. If the clutch is powder coated , then its aftermarket.

I got the Competition Stage II clutch kit installed on my '04 last summer and the shop that did it put the damn thing in backwards, it was ruined within a week or two. They defended themselves saying that the way that clutch kit is designed makes it look like its "supposed to go in the way a normal clutch does" at least that was their excuse, just a heads up to be sure you take it to someone that knows wtf they're doing, lol. If you go that route.

Alot of dealers will claim the clutch is a wear item and not honor it as a warranty. Just throwing that in there

It is where the bell housing mates to the back of the engine.

I recommend Stage 2 for unboosted trucks wanting a close to stock clutch feel. Stage 3 if you want a race car

You're probably fine with the Stage 2 regardless. Off the top of my head I think URD said the stage 2 was good to 440hp? The Stage 3 to 550.

@vlodpg I'll answer your question here, the Stage 3 feels a bit stiffer than OEM, and the engagement zone is about 1/2" of pedal movement. It takes some time to get used to it to slip it in 1st. Every other gear you can kind of slip or just release it and have your RPMs at the right spot, regardless its gonna slap hard and fast, so if your RPMs aren't close you'll get some bucking a bit or slam your driveline. I like the light flightwheel and stage 3 for what I do and how I drive. I'm sure the Stage 2 engages and hold much better than OEM I don't have any experience to recommend it, but I've heard its just a good upgrade from stock and feels pretty close to it.

Dude, wtf... I sincerely hope they made it right. That's probably the lamest excuse I've heard from a shop.

That's what I get for going with least expensive option, though they were supposedly a "transmission specialty" shop.

They reimbursed me for the cost of the job but refused to reimburse me for the cost of the clutch, stating that we'd have to go the legal route if I insisted. I don't have the time or the means to risk losing that battle. But yeah, sucked big time. Especially because I had to go to Toyota after that and pay to have an OEM clutch put in. Expensive lesson learned there.
