First one I saw was in 73 or 74. I was cultivating corn by the Missouri River. It got bad quick I headed for the house, then saw it come over the tree line about a half mile away. I drove the tractor along a tree line at the side of the road, I stopped and got under the tractor. No cab on the tractor and hail the size of baseballs. It only lasted about 15 minutes but it seemed like hours!

 

I'm surprised my dad didn't teach us that!

The one in '74, I was close enough to the house I could see my mom on the back porch, waving at me to come inside. I thought she was just waving (hello). I waved back. I was 16 at the time. We had just got a new tractor. (4430 Deere open station) I wasn't getting off that tractor unless I got blown off! About 5 minutes later, the sky opened up and I was done for the day!

 

I'd peppered his ass with bird shot if I woulda been home. Little fucker is sitting on their front porch drinking MY BEER.
