I'm doing some market research and i'm hoping the fine people of TW might help me.

So as the title says, have you ever bent a spindle?

If so, feel free to elaborate on what you were doing and how you fixed it.

    What haven’t I changed?
Bent my passenger side spindle on a wheeling trip, wasn't sure which one. Replaced it and gusseted the replacement.

There has been promises in the past from several fabricators and vendors all saying that they are working on a built HD 4WD spindle.

You need to add the "I may or may not have a bent spindle but I'm afraid to do any measuring to check therefore it's fine" option to the poll :anonymous:

Also it would be interesting to see a replacement option for 4wd trucks. Seems to be one of the few items not covered in the aftermarket world.

    Damn i forgot that one!

It would be the same for the 4wd models and the Prerunner as it would reuse your existing hub assembly. The actual spindle is the same between the 2

I'm sure that there would be a nice demand from everyone across all of the platforms (FJ's,4Runners and Tacoma for a fabbed HD 4WD spindle including me

I've had the lower ball joint mounting bolt heads sheer off on me, leaving the mounting bolts in the spindle. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the bolts out with the heads sheered off, so I just bought a spindle from a salvage yard.

Don't the spindles have magnets in them that make the abs sensors work? I thought that was the reason that no one could get everything electronic to work with a sas.

I wish there was a good story for this. Unfortunately, there isn't. Unfortunately, this also wasn't a one time incident. From what I can tell, I think there was an alignment issue. This could probably be attributed to me being deployed, keeping the taco in storage the whole time, but didn't put it on jacks or have a friend take it out from time to time, the aluminimum wheels getting warped, which caused vibrations as I drove it from Wisconsin to Texas, in which 20 minutes from home, the front left wheel flys off on the interstate. Perhpas I should have taken some time to go ahead and put in new CV axles, but decided against it, those eventually went bad and pulled apart. I don't know if this caused the lower ball joint to sheer or if the lower ball joint sheering caused the CV axle to fall apart.

There were a few things that added to me believing it was bent. I took a hard hit one day wheeling on that side. From previous stories of people doing about the same thing, gave me fears that I did. Then my truck started pulling to that side a lot, which ment the alignment was messed up. Shortly after that I took to a buddy that is a Toyota tec and great at alignments. During the alignment we were having to do some major adjustments to get it into alignment. All of this lead me to believe it was bent. My buddy also thought it could be bent also. When I pulled it off the truck, you could see that it did not look straight.
