    Hey all,
Looking to join the RTT club soon but first and foremost, im looking for a rack system for above cab that would hold a RTT for 2nd Gen Access Cab. 05'. Do these RTT mfg's provide a rail system to hold some fat bottom bitches up there with the tent?

Figured you guys would be able to point me in the right direction. Hi end and low end for comparison would be greatly appreciated!

For the Access Cabs your options are rather limited but one I've seen some people running with is the Prinsu rack: http://www.prinsudesignstudio.com/_p/prd12/4365875955/product/2005---2015-toyota-tacoma-accessrac

I was unable to find the FBB (fat bottom bitch) capacity on their website though...

Just looking at this double cab and the size of this RTT makes me hesitant to put something like this on an Access Cab. Reason im trying to go above the cab and not over the bed is I have a softopper and would like the option to haul toys such as dirtbikes and sleds in the bed. These racks look great though and decent price compared to what i found myself. Do these RTT's come in a size equivalent to the Access cabs roof/this style rack? Havent been able to find someone running one. And just one FBB is needed plus my ass so room for 2.5 in the RTT.

Stuffing a RTT onto the AC roof is not the easiest thing to do. In fact I'm not sure if I have seen anyone do it. The Access Cab roof is approximately 48" x 48" and most of the RTT bases are 48" x 56". I'm not saying you can't do it but it would take some finesse.

Right on thanks! Ya this is not the route im going to take after reading this, im sure it can be done but doesnt sound safe with that overhang and the moment it would create if a FBB was on the overhanging end ;). I think my next best option is to go with a AllPro Weld Togethe rover the softtopper rack and create a modular system for toy hauling if needed. Or perhaps just build a cheap sleeper system in the bed. Hard to decide, when im planning on hitting the road for a month or so.

Depending on your dirt bike size you could check into something like this: http://www.discountramps.com/motorc...YUbs6lu51bmsk-N16iGcNLjRiU8PgT5xtKxoCexXw_wcB and most of the taller bed racks should have enough clearance for a sled.

thanks ya lots to consider and routes to go, i definetly want a full size 33" spare to bring along somehow and that aluminum rack would work for that or just take up much needed space in the bed. Or a heavy swing out steel bumper but dont really want all that weight all the time back there, nor would i need it on all the time. Really just looking to deck this thing out for the 2 months on the road but who knows where the road will take me

I read reviews on the Smitty RTT and it seems like a nice less expensive option for an RTT. Does anyone here have one or had one? What was your experience with it?

this is the route I'm going with after a long process of reading reviews, searching and comparing all of the known brands unless there's a substantial group buy with in the next week or so.

Check out the Denver Outfitters OverRoam RTT... it has cross bars on it that could allow you to mount your canoes during Transit.

I use my canoe a lot to so I went with a low profile bed rack. I use a hitch-mounted extender in the back and some removable cross bars in the front. Works great.

I already pulled the trigger on a tent. I just purchased a Freespirit Adventure series. I am going to see what I can rig up and modify when the tent gets here. Still in transit. Thanks.

This is also the grand sabana (now the Autana XL) which is one of there largest footprints. So put that into perspective when your looking at this photo. Still, I would agree with others, you may as well place the RTT over the bed on an access cab.

There are a few companies out there who make racks for over your softopper that sit nice and close.

Hey guys, I wanted to share a problem I have with my tent so that hopefully you can prevent it happening to you.

@Cascadia Tents Mt. Shasta. On the annex, both corners where it slides into the channel are coming apart. One of them the thread is coming out, the other one the fabric is ripping. I use the annex fairly often, and am always careful with it when setting it up. I guess the minute that all the weight is on there while you're zipping it up is too much for it.

I am a little disappointed, I have only had the tent for 2 camping seasons and hoping it will last many many more.

    Good evening,

We are Sorry to see this happen and for your disappointment. It doesn't happen often but it does. Please don't be offended when we we say why. Just want to let you know why and then let's resolve it.
    Reasons why this happens
    1. Pulling on the corners when putting the annex on and off
    2. Lifting up the floor with the annex still attached.
And yes these both do happen.
    Fix:
    A. Take it to a local upholstery/boat shop and have it re-sewn. Please call us and we will pay for it.
If you have any other questions please let us k ow.

    Kind regards,

    Bobby
