This thread should be locked to the top of the forum, I have been trying to solve this for a week on my third Gen. The dealership put the fuel line tubing but they tucked it in front of the seal. It reduced the noise, but then I found this and moved it behind the seal and BAM, noise gone.

Thank you for all the help, it just got windy here for the winter and this was super annoying.

Has it still remain fixed for you ? Im very interested in getting a Tacoma but this issue is making me weary. Are a lot of trucks affected by this ?

It's a work in progress. See my build thread.
Mine is quiet except in the most extreme winds, then it is minor.

I don't know how many are affected, but if it is affected the fix is trivial and works forever. Buy $5 of foam weather stripping from Home Depot and put it in between the door and the factory seal to make it a bit thicker. Problem solved!

    Here's my sound:

    https://youtu.be/wydS7WuMzEo

Lasted all of a 10 hour roundtrip road trip, both out and back 4 days later. It seems like the cold might make it worse.

Is this the door seals, or the windshield? I wouldn't doubt if this is the reason the past owners sold it.. I will if it can't be fixed!

door seal. I stuffed some foam packing material behind the door seal, problem solved! One guy on this thread stuffed a plastic grocery bag in there and it worked lol

That is almost certainly the door seal sound. It would be worst on the passenger side if there was a crosswind blowing from the driver side. Super easy fix as mentioned and shown in this thread. Just put some sort of weather strip/foam gasket or whatever between the existing door seal and the door on that side. It will all be tucked behind the existing door seal and invisible.

Fixed mine with clothesline rope. $0.50 and 2 minutes of time.

Appears to now be a TSB for this finally:

TS-B-0170-16 WIND (REED/BUZZ) NOISE FROM FRONT DOORS - CROSS-WIND CONDITIONS

I can't find the full text of the TSB online yet though.

It simply cannot be overstated how quick, easy and cheap this fix is to do. I would not let this subject sway your decision. In fact, no vehicle is without problems and I'd hope that any future troubles with my Tacoma are as easy as this to remedy.

Freaking finally. Now for the PDF document to see how they go about fixing it.

Still rocking my 3 pieces of 1/4in drip line in both front doors (maybe 2 bucks worth of material) and havnt had the kazoo sound in years.

Took mine in for the third time in a year for this issue. Dealership acknowledged there is now a TSB. I was given a copy of the TSB and they sent my videos to Toyota. They are replacing all 4 door seals.

2 months ago they told me they would replace them for $200 a window. I'm curious whether the TSB was out then or not.. either way it would probably be out of pocket since I'm outside of all warranties. Just gonna have to try the rubber line method before my next road trip.

The paperwork they gave me says it's free for model years 12-15 if the truck has under 36k miles.

I'll take pictures when mine is done

Bought her with 36 :'( Such BS when it's a manufacturing defect not related to vehicle age in any way.
